Hi all,

I’m approaching the grand old age of 24. It’s my understanding that this is the last time I can buy a three-year 16-25 railcard, which will last me until just before I’m 27, which is beneficial as it has better terms than the 26-30. Is that all correct please? And I presume even though I currently have a three-year railcard I can still buy another one?

You can only get one year of "extended" validity, so you can buy a 1 year one the day before your 26th birthday, or a 3 year one the day before your 24th, yes.

The Railcard site won't I think let you do it, but you can just register another account with a different email address to work around that. Or for a one-year card buy it at a station (I don't think the 3 year card can be bought at a station?)

"You can buy or renew your 1-year 16-25 Railcard up to and including the day before your 26th birthday and keep using it until its expiry date. With 3-year 16-25 Railcards you can buy them up until the day before your 24th birthday, which will make the expiry date the day before your 27th birthday." 16-25 Railcard website

This may or may not be relevant to you or anyone else reading this thread, but if you are still a student, you can get a one year 16-25 railcard at any age
