I thought I'd make this thread as in the past, other members have mentioned how SPT waste money on fresh air services that nobody uses. Any operator's services other than First Glasgow can be discussed as they have their own speculative thread and ideas for SPT tendered services can also be discussed. This will also allow for the main threads to be kept free of any creative suggestions for routes as sadly other forum members aren't exactly positive in response to any ideas and it avoids clogging up those threads.

As I said in the First Glasgow speculative thread, the main things that should really be looked at are improving links to hospitals and educational facilities.

One thing with certain hospitals is a lack of variety in the route offered to these hospitals.

For example, Inverclyde Hospital doesn't have any services that link anywhere outside of Inverclyde to the hospital and the Royal Alexandra Hospital only has the SPT tendered 340 which has a few journeys a day from Helensburgh and Alexandria.

The 17 that Mcgills operate is also due to be scaled back on May 1st leaving no Sunday service direct link from Paisley directly into the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. The 26 that Mcgills operates goes nearby but it's still not an ideal walk for those who are less mobile.

The 17 is certainly something that should see funding as it covers 2 hospitals in the Royal Alexandra Hospital and Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Links to the Golden Jubilee Hospital are also about to become more limited if the X22 Mcgills operates does get axed. However, SPT are looking at options for a replacement.

Another thing that should be considered is that the 2 main A&Es are now at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Royal Infirmary and these are also 2 of the busiest hospitals in the region. To get people out of cars, quick, direct links to these hospitals are essential. Tickets of all operators on new links to hospitals and educational facilities should be accepted as a way to get more people on board these services especially if they are operated by companies that don't have much presence in the destination area.

The Greenock network is quite a mess now, with nothing much changing (the biggest change in the nearly 6 years I've lived here is the withdrawal of C&M Coaches' public services) other than service cuts after service cuts, and some new buses every now and again.
After these latest cuts, the network is left looking very radial, as shown by my map attached. South to Broomhill or Overton/Pennyfern, west to Gourock, Braeside, Burns Sq., Trumpethill via Midton, east to Leven Rd, Bridgend/Gibshill, via Port Glasgow to Park Farm/Slaemuir/Devol, etc., etc.

The problem with Greenock is that it's so incredibly car centric given the A8 runs straight onto the M8. It also doesn't help that there aren't many roads out in any other direction either.

I've seen people suggest a bus to Paisley and the Royal Alexandra Hospital but whether enough people would use it is another thing entirely.
