When did you get an email saying you’re shortlisted? I received 15/03 but heard nothing since
I received the shortlist email on 28/03, have my paper tests next week. Hopefully, you will hear soon.

Already have a start date, 15th may
Wow, Congratulations. I bet it feels great to pass all the entry requirements and be given a spot.

I already passed paper tests 6 months ago with another firm, so maybe I’ll hear later due to that

They test without the hearing aids, luckily I made the minimum level needed. Hopefully 15th too
Fingers crossed!

I ordered the uniform, contract signed, rest of paperwork signed, references etc done just awaiting DBS reply. Feels so close!

Wonder how many of us will be training together?

Yes Jacob! Well in! Such an amazing email to get isnt it?? I guess we will be training together then? Hopefully can find the toilets this time..
Did they tell you September at the earliest due to you having prior plans / holidays etc or is that just what they generally intimated??

Cheers pal...When they asked if I had any holidays booked etc they seemed to think the very earliest one could be is September. They've got a lot on with training current drivers up on the new rolling stock as well as the May course

That makes sense. It's good from my perspective (I'll be clear to start September onwards) Going to delay a honeymoon until the times right, probably after classroom training is done at least. The Mrs knows how big of a deal this is for us so she's happy with it. I've still got a smile on my face from the news, you must be feeling 10 ft high today dude.

have you finished it all?

Literally had no idea how many long/short black or white shirts to order out of the 6 allocation haha.

Just hoping whilst doing this can make some good friendships too
Hard decisions! Took most of the day and hopefully not missed anything. Should see a lot of each other anyway. They usually have up to 8 on a course but who knows?

Quick question. Has anyone gone down the private psychometric test route? Still waiting for dates for Crewe after 15/3 email! It's all a bit frustrating.

We're you in Chester on Monday 1.30 pm ?
No, went to Tuesday one at 9:30am. Was really busy - about 25. How many were there when you went? Have you heard anything yet?

What is private psychometric tests? How do they work helping you become a train driver?

The 'How to become' website offers a private service for industry recognised assessments. It's not cheap but was wondering if anyone had done it. Paper and online tests etc. At official assessment centres

There's not really any point to this, having psychometrics under your belt doesn't put you in a better position in the grand scheme of things. What's the point when you can wait a few weeks and sit them for free with the TOC paying! It wouldn't speed your application up sitting them privately before hand.

I disagree. Some vacancies advertise for people who already have the tests done, I think DB Cargo did this recently. And some of the TFW candidates went straight to DMI. If you’re prepared to pay then why not.
