I was inspired to do this by another thread I found which was the "10 Minutes or better services" thread. This does not include combined services. For Example the X14, X15 and X18 Arriva services from Morpeth to Newcastle provide a 30 minute combined service however this does not count because it is combined. However, the Stagecoach 12 from Wallsend to Two Ball Lonnen (Newcastle) provides a 20 Minute service on Sunday does count because it is a singular service. My expectation is most of these will be in big urban areas but we might see some that are not. I'll start with some Examples:
SNE = Stagecoach North East
GNE = Go North East
1 SNE (Slatyford - Coach Lane Campus) Every 20 Minutes
3 SNE (South Shields Interchange - Biddick Hall) Every 30 Minutes
4 SNE (South Shields Interchange - Biddick Hall) Every 30 Minutes
20 SNE (Sunderland Fawcett Street - Pennywell Estate) Every 15 Minutes
X66 GNE (Gateshead Metro Interchange - Metrocentre Interchange) Every 10 minutes
51 GNE (Gateshead Metro - Felling Square - Heworth - Gateshead Metro) Every 30 Minutes
52 GNE (Gateshead Metro - Heworth - Felling Square - Gateshead Metro) Every 30 Minutes
All of these are Sunday Daytime frequencies.

Southern Vectis 1, Newport-Cowes, and 9, Newport-Ryde (two different routes between Newport and Wootton), both every fifteen minutes. 2 and 3, Newport-Ryde the long way, each have two buses an hour and combine to give a quarter-hourly service over much of the Shanklin-Ryde section. 5, Newport-East Cowes, is half-hourly. 7, Newport-Alum Bay, is half-hourly, but takes two routes between Carisbrooke and Yarmouth. 38, Newport town service, is also half-hourly. The 2, 3, 7 and 9 are designed to give frequent services between the main towns and a less frequent, but still regular, one to the places in between.

Loads round Oxford. As well as various city services, there's the X2 to Didcot, the X3 to Abingdon, the 35 to Abingdon, the 400 to Wheatley, the S1 to Carterton, the S5 to Bicester, the S6 to Swindon, the S7 to Witney, the S9 to Wantage.

Was just typing out that list! Comes to over 20 services when including city routes: 1, 2, 2A, 3, 4A, 5, 6, 8, 10, 14, 15 and 300 all meet the criteria.

I would say that even 30 minutes is lenient for a Sunday!

Straight off the bat, Stagecoach South's Gold 1 has a 15 minute frequency during the weekends, dropping to 20 minutes on Sunday afternoons. The KITE between Aldershot and Guildford and the YOYO operating the Prospect Estate loop have a 30 minute frequency throughout the day, as well as the similarly numbered 1, 2 and 7 in the Guildford area having a half hourly frequency.

To an extent, Diremond South East has occasional 30 minute frequencies boosted by the short journeys between Heathrow and Ashford Common on route 555. On top of that, the H30, despite operating in the early hours only and for about 90 minutes, has an impressive 20 minute frequency.

Safeguard's combined route 4 and 5, creating a circular service, is a bit odd because journeys between Guildford and the Royal Surrey County Hospital are hourly, but Guildford and Park Barn are every 20 minutes.

I'm sure there'll be plenty more that others can list.

Plenty in Bournemouth, Poole and Brighton.

Harrogate to Leeds is x30 minutes on the 36

Oxford Tube reaches the threshold in the early hours, getting to 15 minutes during the main part of the day. Suspect it is ‘cozy’ on there at the moment as rail passengers seek alternatives.

London will have lots.

I think Southern Vectis should just win most if not all of these competitions. For an island operator, they are surprisingly well run and very good at showing up some of the bigger Op Co's on the mainland!

I suspect there'll be many areas with 30 minute services on Sundays. 20 minutes or better may be harder to find.

I've only listed the ones better than 30 minutes here otherwise the list would be quite long!

Go North East:
Angel 21 (Chester le St - Newcastle) Every 15 minutes
Crusader 27 (Newcastle to South Shields) every 20 minutes
49 (Winlaton - Gateshead) every 20 minutes
Voltra 53 & 54 (Saltwell Park Circulars) Each every 20 minutes
Cityrider 56 (Newcastle - Sunderland) every 20 minutes
Drifter 60 (Sunderland - Parkside) every 20 minutes
Xlines X1 (Washington - Newcastle only) every 20 minutes
X66 (Gateshead - Metrocentre) every 10 minutes

Plenty of Stagecoach Sunderland's City Routes are also every 20 minutes during shopping hours. Routes 3, 4, 13, 16, 20. (The 20 is every 15 minutes)

Ditto Stagecoach Newcastle (Along with the ones mentioned above) - Routes 1, 10 & 11, 12, 38, 39, 40, X47

Most main routes in Birmingham and Coventry I expect are every 30 mins or better on a Sunday.

Elsewhere in the Stagecoach South operating area (better than half-hourly in bold):
  • 1 (Andover) - 30 mins
  • 1 (Basingstoke) - 20 mins
  • 1 (Winchester) - 30 mins over Stanmore half
  • 2 (Basingstoke) - 20 mins
  • 3 (Basingstoke) - 30 mins
  • 3 (Winchester) - 30 mins
  • 8 (Basingstoke) - 30 mins
  • 15 (Aldershot) - 30 mins
  • 21 (Portsmouth) - 20 mins over southern section
  • 23 (Portsmouth) - 15 mins
  • 51 (Chichester) - 30 mins
  • 91 (Woking) - 20 mins over eastern section
  • 700 (Littlehampton to Brighton) - 20 mins
  • 700 (Littlehampton to Flansham) - 15 mins (30 onwards to Littlehampton)
  • 700 (Chichester to Portsmouth) - 30 mins
  • PULSE (Worthing) - 20 mins
Their contract for the Hovertravel shuttle bus between Portsmouth city centre and Southsea Hoverport also runs every 30 mins.

Exeter used to have plenty of city routes with 30 mins or better. Now, just the out of town 4/4A and 57 I think. Everything else, including A and E, are hourly.

My local routes J and R combine for 2 buses an hour on Sundays along Topsham Road, however they are within 5 minutes of each other. Other option, H, doesn't run on Sundays any more.

The U is also every 30 on a Sunday.

The B is about to go to 2 an hour as far as St Ives, although on a 20-40 to coordinate with the A at every 20 over the busway.

Down in Thurrock I know that the Ensign 73A and First 100 both run at 30 mins intervals on Sundays. Not sure about other routes in the area though.

Surely there are loads of routes qualifying? Particularly once you add in the metropolitan counties and the usual operator suspects.

For example, nearly all Brighton & Hove routes are every 30 minutes or better. The 2, 10, 20, 100 & 200 qualify in Crawley (Metrobus). In Eastbourne, Stagecoach's 1 & 1A both operate half-hourly. Even Arriva manages to run local service 281 in Tunbridge Wells every 30 minutes.

What might be more instructive is to list routes offering half-hourly or better on a Sunday evening - a look at the bustimes map shows very few buses running by 2200 in many areas.

Thanet Loop runs every ten minutes for much of Sunday

Half hourly after 20.00 up to 23.15/23.30 ish

Excellent bus route (although it has it's bad moments and is impacted by road closures at the moment).

I was lucky enough to buy a house just a couple of minutes from a Loop bus stop when I moved down here. Didn't think about it at all at the time as was driving then.

Surely plenty of Manchester routes qualify, such as the 85 and 86 to Chorlton which both have a 20 minute frequency Sunday daytime reverting to 30 minutes Sunday evening.

However the prize may go to the 192 Manchester - Stockport- Hazel Grove which runs every 5 minutes Sunday daytime and every 10 minutes Sunday evening. One of the few "turn up at any time, any day" services left?

On the Newcastle theme, when I visited Freeman hospital I noticed that the 38 seemed to have a good frequency and sure enough it's every 20 minutes all day Sunday.

I second the 192. Also the 142/143 "Magic Bus" services from Piccadilly Gardens to south Manchester (Didsbury and Withington) however these may not be very frequent on Sundays outside of University term time.

Selby s only Sunday service, the 415 runs to a half hourly frequency for most of Sunday before winding down to hourly in the evening. I'm sure there's plenty in York
