Manchester Applicant here just got this email.

I’m just writing with an update on your application to Avanti West Coast. We are still reviewing your application and I apologise for the delay with this. Avanti are recruiting for the whole year and have therefore asked that we prioritise applications for other depots at this particular time, which is what we are doing.



I understand that this may be disappointing news for you, however your application and interest is still very important for us and as such we will review your application as soon as we’re able to. We ask that you bear with us whilst we do this and we will keep you informed regularly as to the status of your application and when we may be able to continue.



Thank you for your time and continued interest with Avanti West Coast and we will be back in touch with you within the next 6 weeks to provide you with an update.

So they are clearly prioritising other applications from other depots. As someone else said as long as you don’t receive unsuccessful email you have a chance. Initially I received 28 days email before now 6 weeks more.

Anyone on here that had their assessment day in Crewe today? If so how did you think it went? I'm the guy that just sat the group Bourdon

I was! The Group Bourdon and TEA-OCC went better than expected. Only task which caught me off guard was the dials and cables. Doing the task was fine but I didn't manage to complete them all in the amount of time. Think I got to around 31/32 so I'm hoping that's enough for a pass.

That's good to hear about the Group Bourdon and TEA-OCC. If you got the accuracy then you should be OK

Just to make sure for the teaocc, you just count the low tones right? No need to subract high tones? And for part 3 do you have disruptions or do you count tones continuesly and circle symbols until the end of the test?

yeah just count the low tones, fairly simple way, every time a low tone place a finger on your leg. Then count the fingers. Part 3 is one continuous test, I counted the tones then used the few seconds between strings to scan for double symbols.

Yes, I feel more comfortable with tea occ and group bourdon now, its just trp part 1 and 2. Any advice on these? I can't find enough practice online

I found trp 1 a little harder. So much info to try and absorb in so little time, not a lot I can say about that one.

part 2 I was ok with, it's just very close as to whether you finish in time, think it was 43 questions in 8 minutes. I did them with around 20 seconds to spare, but fully understand why some miss the last few.

But I suppose that's what they're there for, speed and accuracy.

Just got mine this afternoon. Applied for Liverpool and Manchester but I suspect this is for the latter.

Got the 6 week email today at 4pm. Forgot it wasn’t Saturday cos off work and wondered why they were emailing me. At least still in it for now. Polmadie applicant.

Received the 6 week email this morning, dated the 6th. Glad to have had some correspondence from them at last.

Guys do you know what kind of pre employment checks are done at Avanti? Apart from refrence checks and medical
