There should be 5 E400s for Notts & Derby and 10 for TM Travel. It’s not decided yet which bus is going where
The Notts & Derby ones are in use in the Derby area now, obviously still in Edinburgh livery and without any fleetnames or legal lettering at all.

One was on one of the John Port School diagrams on Friday which is normally operated by one of the 58 reg E400's.

4 have tracked for Notts and Derby are:
1401 - HY61 BUS
1406 - SN61 BBJ
1410 - SN61 BBX
1413 - SN61 BCE
Assume the full batch will be numbered 14xx for both TM and N+D.

Connect Solo 484 has also transferred over to Notts and Derby.

Service 170 between Chesterfield, Holymoorside & Bakewell is to be fully operated by Hulleys of Baslow according to the upcoming changes on Stagecoach's website.

From 26th March we will no longer run any journeys on the 170 Chesterfield – Holymoorside. These journeys on the 170 will now be run by Hulleys of Baslow with an improved timetable funded by Derbyshire County Council. Please see hulleys-of-baslow.co.uk for details of the 170.

Crikey this means that Hulley’s buses will have to run in the dark!

The Stagecoach website says that the 170 evening service will be improved due to additional Derbyshire County Council funding.

No mention on Hulley’s or Derbyshire County Council websites, has anyone seen the new timetable, it starts in 3 weeks?

Six have been out for Notts and Derby now, and there‘s at least one more (SN11EES) in Meadow Lane garage in Derby so maybe the spilt isn’t going to be 5/10.

Looking at BusTimes in the Peak District it appears that the snow has hit or is about to.
Pretty much all Hulleys routes stopped late morning, buses heading to the school in Bakewell and heading out on all routes soon after 12.00.
Some combined, eg the 172 covered the 171 to Youlgrave and Middleton, the 173 and 257 don't seem to have made it through.
The last 257 that did get to Sheffield now heading directly back.
Nothing on the 272 but one did seem to do a journey from Hope College a bit earlier.
Also the 170 and X70, decker on the 170 just reaching Chesterfield now, X70 heading back but can't tell if its in service or not.
T M Travel did the same with a decker at the school for some time before heading back to Sheffield, no further journeys have made it out beyond Totley.
Out east of Chesterfield things look more normal. The Transpeak still seems to be running.

Derby was pretty dodgy with snow at 10:00 but Sheffield an hour or so later had hardly been touched. By 14:00 Sheffield was not faring well at all but I got back to Derby just before 15:00 and was hard pressed to see any snow on the ground and it was raining.

Is Trentbarton still planning to replace the Meadow Road garage in Derby?

They seem to have gone quiet with regards to this, however I believe they still own the land on Stores Road

Over at Marshall’s, it’s announced that their flagship “Fosseway Flyer” is due for withdrawal in April. The below screenshot is from their social media

Marshall's of Sutton on Trent Ltd will cease operation of service 90 & 90A, the "Fosseway Flyer" between Newark and Nottingham after services on Saturday 15th April 2023

Mod note - if posting screenshots, a text equivalent is required.

Snow depths are the deepest I have seen them for a few years around here but with the clear blue skys we have today its been brilliant walking weather..as long as you dont mind bumping into the odd 6ft snow drift or two! There was no way Hulleys could provide a full service today but they have tried

Vectare will be running route 90 between Nottingham and Newark from April after Marshall’s pulls out, with evening buses routed via Cotgrave to cover the loss of Trentbarton’s Cotgrave Connection

Nottinghamshire transport specialists Vectare are stepping in to save the Nottingham to Newark express bus service following news that Marshalls of Sutton on Trent are withdrawing their “Fosseway Flyer” from 15th April 2023

Vectare are delighted to announce that they will be commencing operation of a new express bus service between Newark and Nottingham from Sunday 16th April 2023, providing a full replacement for the current Marshalls of Sutton on Trent “Fosseway Flyer” service which ceases operation on Saturday 15th April.

Buses will operate hourly on Monday to Saturday daytimes, with extra journeys at peak times, and evening and Sunday buses will also be provided. Journeys will start from Newark Bus Station and run via Farndon, before running express to Nottingham via the A46 and A52 (additional settlements adjacent to the A46, including Coneygrey Spinney, will also be served). Evening buses will run via Cotgrave, retaining vital links for workers and those enjoying evening leisure activities in Nottingham.

Driver shortages still seem to be causing many buses to be cancelled each day. Trent Barton are still cancelling quite a few buses each day but the number of cancellations do seem to be less than they were before Christmas. Stagecoach in Mansfield now seem to be the worst for cancellations in the area with three very extensive lists of cancellations posted on Twitter for tomorrow.

At Trentbarton a lot of cancellations are now due to there being no bus rather than no driver. A lot of the depots are struggling for spare parts to keep vehicles on the road.

I'd heard that was becoming a problem at TrentBarton. It's Stagecoach in Mansfield that's absolutely terrible for cancellations tomorrow. It's been bad for weeks now with some of the less frequent routes almost being unusable for anyone relying on them for work or important appointments. Buses at peak times, even on routes which are only hourly, have been very unreliable.

This does seem to be the case. Villager branded 703 has not been out since last August. The strange thing is that Villager branded 701 was on loan to TM travel on Wednesday at the same time 2 spare buses was on the villager. 3 buses was missing on the Red Arrow and one on the allestree as well. Can't see any logic in this to me.

There are a number of cancellations seemingly every day on High Peak buses.

The problem is some of the the cancellations are on very infrequent services.

I suppose commercially it’s better to cancel a bus on a two hourly frequency that carries few passengers (hence the low frequency) but maintain the half hourly trunk 199 service from Buxton to Manchester Airport?

Although I wouldn’t fancy waiting in Hartington for an extra 2 hours for the next bus. The two pubs aren’t too bad I suppose!

They should seriously consider hiring in some vehicles from elsewhere to cover for shortages.

It was common practice years ago amongst many operators, although I imagine TB are more worried about a hired bus not conforming with their (seriously tarnished) image than leaving passengers stranded!

Derbyshire Community Transport are running two new services in Spondon and Allestree from Monday 27th March, as partial replacements for the Spondon Flyer and Darley Abbey services withdrawn last year.
https://www.derby.gov.uk/news/2023/march/two-community-bus-services-to-launch-next-week/

Operated by Derbyshire Community Transport in partnership with Derby City Council, and funded by the Government’s Local Transport Fund, two small bus services will be trialled for a period of three months to support residents in communities which currently have no bus service.

The busses will run Monday to Friday (excluding Bank Holidays) and will each be able to transport up to 16 passengers. Initially, the service will be free, however a fare may be introduced at a later stage.
The services will not connect directly to the city centre but will provide residents who rely on public transport with a way of accessing amenities within their local communities.

The Allestree service will offer two routes, providing links to Park Farm from Allestree and Darley Abbey, partially replacing some of the service previously delivered by the 17a.

In Spondon, the two routes will provide a link from the edge of the village to the village centre, partially replacing some of the service previously delivered by the Spondon Flyer.

These were announced in the autumn, but introduction delayed. They will not be withdrawn before the local elections now.

Trent Barton continue to miss out several journies. They now remove earlier missed journies from the list as the day progresses, easier to find the missed journies, but also makes it look as though problems have eased. The issues will make the infrequent services unusable and unviable to operate.

No mention from trent as to whether the £2 fares will continue from Saturday.

Now, isn't this a sight for sore eyes...? Hulleys of Baslow have painted their 15 in the livery of the former North Western Road Car Company to commemorate that company's centenary.

Click on the pics for larger version on Flickr. (Photos are my own)

What is the fascination behind putting modern buses into heritage liveries? It just doesn't work, I've seen First and National Express West Midlands also try this and they all look, quite honestly, terrible.

Or just not list the missing journeys like the 1615 villager from Derby to Burton today. Only 4 of the 5 buses out again all day.

I must agree on this. Heritage liveries in my opinion should be kept for Heritage buses!

Interestingly neither Trent Barton or Arriva Derby have yet announced whether the £2 fares will be available from Saturday or not.

High Peak, NCT and Hulley's are amongst operators to confirm they will continue the scheme weeks ago.

Stagecoach East Midlands are continuing the £2 fares until 30th June. They have just announced quite a significant rise in some fares from Monday 10th April. I think some people will get quite a shock when the £2 fares eventually do end, and they find out how much more their fares will be compared to what they were before the £2 fares. The Stagecoach fare changes are bit difficult to understand, but if I’ve got it correct, for example single fares from many of the villages into Mansfield and Newark will be £5.20, which is up from an already expensive £4.50.

TrentBarton have now confirmed on twitter they will be continuing with the scheme.

The Government has extended its £2 capped single fare scheme until the end of June.

As currently, all routes except #redarrow will offer the fare.

Trentbarton have advised that they will no longer be running the Skylink Nottingham between East Midlands Gateway and Loughborough from the 15th May due to funding being withdrawn.

Demand responsive transport for the areas impacted will be introduced instead run by Kinchbus.

Will that see a PVR reduction for Skylink Nottingham?
