Hello all,

given the engineering works will be blocking the WCML on 8 April, would a £81.55 (with railcard discount) off-peak return (+any permitted) from Manchester Piccadilly to Stansted Airport be valid for a journey Manchester>Reading (Cross Country) >> Reading>Paddington (GWR) >> London transfer >> Liverpool Street>Stansted ? Or alternatively Manchester>Derby >> Derby>St Pancras etc.?

I can get these journeys to show up in the journey planner but with 'no fares available'. I don't see why the above mentioned ticket shouldn't be valid.

Thanks for your advice!

Manchester-Stansted Airport "any permitted" is valid via LONDON, and recursively so, so any valid route Manchester-London will be valid also.

The off-peak return should be valid as you say:

Can you show me which journey planner and what's the full itinerary such that we can investigate the problem?

I am using Transport for Wales (see pic)

Ideally I would like to catch the 13:15 connection (itinerary suggested: Manchester Piccadilly > Milton Keynes Central > Bedford > London St Pancras > tube > Tottenham Hale > Stansted Airport) or the 12:58 (Manchester Piccadilly > York > London Kings Cross > tube > Tottenham Hale > Stansted Airport).

However, I think I have already found a solution ... adding 'via Reading' produces a range of reasonable options throughout the day with normal ticket availability - and on the return journey I will be able to use the ticket from Euston.
