I couldn’t make the paper test dates early Jan. I sent 4 emails starting last Dec and heard nothing so was getting worried. In February I got an invite for the ones at the end of feb. I think they usually keep you in mind for the next ones that come upAnyone still waiting to do their computer tests in Cardiff, I couldn't make the one they offered me due to work as colleague was on holiday. They said not to worry but two weeks on and still anxiously waiting for another email

You will still be on the list don't worry. I missed 2 paper tests consecutively but at 3rd attempt got to do them in February. Got my computer tests next week. They had 2 computer test day's this week and 3 next week so I would imagine there will be another round of paper before anymore computer tests. I have a more general question about the shifts that a TfW train driver works. There is some info on various feeds, but I can’t find an up to date answer.

Got my computer tests on Tuesday so just a question regarding the 2 hand coordination test, does anyone have an idea of how quick you need to be at getting the ball around the track?
I just did it as quick as I comfortably could. I know that's not a great answer.
On the practice attempts the track is identical so just keep practicing until you get the feel of it. Going diagonal is the tricky bit. There's a bit of both, speed and accuracy and you will come off, keep calm and centre the ball back on the track as quick as possible.
I come off loads, but still passed, so there is room for error

I have my computer tests and hopefully MMI in Cardiff this week.
Regarding the MMI, do they literally just stick with the 6 questions and get you to elaborate on those or do they throw in the odd question that isnt relevant to the 6 questions you have done? Maybe ask why do you want the job? Or is that stuff saved for the DMI

The questions will revolve around the 6 examples you’ve already given and they will expand on each one, sometimes adding hypothetical situations to see how you would deal with it. Well on my way back from Cardiff after the computer tests. Bit gutted as I failed the WAVF. Convinced I had failed to 2 hand coordination test as one of the joysticks came off in my hand but I passed that and perception test. I saw the square change clearly but I was obviously too slow at pressing green button and twice I think I didn't press it properly and it may not have registered.
Gutted to hear that! You'll probably smash it next time as you'll know what you're walking into. I think the technique I used made me too slow. I had my finger at the side of the button. I should of had my finger above it and relaxed after every press for a second or so. Possibly, there is likely an upper limit to the reaction time, but then again it's a concentration test so I'm inclined to think it's more a case of how/if your reaction time changes from start to finish. I didn't feel like it took 30 minutes and I thought I was consistent with my speed but who knows, I've failed so no point going over it. Well I was definitely hitting it in way under that time. Under 1 second I would say.The reason for the test is when you drive a train you get 2.8 seconds to cancel the aws. So that's the time you get to hit the square when it changes colour
