Well I boarded a night bus at 0530 and was charged £1.65, and it hopped on a day bus without any extra charge.

The second bus fare paid was £1.75 as expected, as was the third fare, then I was charged 10p after the 3rd fare ran out of time.

Also noticed a lot of people just refusing to pay for the bus and drivers not caring (yes I know not really their job). And a hippy lady spent 2 minutes rummaging through her bag for her phone while the driver (and all the passengers) waited, on a bus which was already 10 minutes behind schedule, then she didn't hold it near enough to the reader so got a double beep and the driver said nothing.

On Fridays, Kings Cross St. Pancras and St Pancras Thameslink. However, the TL Core is shut on Saturday nights so wouldn't have applied in this case.
On Saturday nights, it’d be Victoria LU and London Victoria NR.

In theory, there’s a Victoria line train arriving southbound at 04:23 followed by an 05:02 Southern service to Brighton which stops at Clapham Junction, East Croydon, Purley, Horley and Gatwick all in the PAYG area, so even if you listened to the boards you’d be fine in terms of the 40 minute OSI time from gateline to gateline.

The second bus will be free, but leave it until 0503 and it will cost £1.75. Unless the bus doesn't update until it gets back to the garage?

The fare scale used is decided by the time of the first touch in, so I would expect it all to be at the old rate. I don't think there are any OSIs on the night tube?
Bond street to Oxford circus is an osi although one that would be unlikely to be taken during night tube unless there was disruption to the central line

Thanks for this. So the night bus had the old fare on it's computer and by the 4th charging bus it realised you hadn't reached the new daily cap. Good to know. Also good to realise that the hopper fare is always £0.00.

Thanks also for the other thoughts on potential OSIs, I had momentarily forgotten about overnight NR services.

Is it Oyster or contactless?
