Hi,
I understand there will be an average 5.9% increase on regulated fares on 5 March. However, I wonder how I can access the exact new fare info for each individual journeys before this day?

I have plans to make several long distance journeys using flexible tickets during Easter and the three May bank holidays. I would like to know how much the fare increase exactly is, for deciding whether it is worth to buy these months in advance.

I’ve checked with my local TOC, who told me you will have to wait until 5 March to know, which isn’t very desirable…

Thanks

The fares won't be visible until 5th March. There is nothing to stop you purchasing the tickets for your forthcoming journies before the fares increase. They only downside is if a strike is announced for one of the days. What I would do is book the journeys relating to each trip in a separate transaction and then if one of the journeys is impacted by a strike you shouldn't have a problem getting all of the tickets in that transaction refunded.

Unfortunately this has been mandated by the DfT, as was the case for the delayed 2021 and 2022 "January" fares changes (which also happened in March.)

I believe the new fares should now be available in the relevant data feeds, but are suppressed from being displayed until they come into effect on Sunday.

So you'd think. Round these parts trying to issue a season ticket from any day after today results in a no fares found error!

I think we'd seen similar problems over the last couple of years.
