Can't find it posted elsewhere, GWR are apparently operating 17 extra trains including electrically operated shuttles for rugby game at Cardiff on Saturday

More than 60 Great Western Railway trains will serve Cardiff on Saturday for Wales’ Six Nations opener against Ireland, providing nearly 30,000 seats.
The train operator expects to run a normal Saturday timetable following Friday’s industrial action, with 17 additional trains helping to get rugby fans to and from the Welsh capital.
GWR will operate a total of 38 trains to Cardiff Central ahead of the 1415 kick-off at the Principality Stadium, with a further 23 trains carrying rugby fans home after the match.
This will include the use of GWR’s capacity-boosting electric-only trains operating a shuttle service between Cardiff Central and Newport at 1711, a service to London Paddington at 1740, and to Swindon at 1840.
Trains are expected to be very busy immediately after the match and a queueing system will be in place outside the station.
In a repeat of the system in place for last year’s Six Nations fixtures, supporters travelling east towards Newport will be asked to queue on the square in front of Cardiff Central, rather than from Riverside Car Park.

I see 3Q04 Swindon-Cardiff is a 110mph EMU (presumably multiple 387s coupled). Then reverses in Brickyard siding. Is that the furthest west the electrification allows?

Unless I am misreading Real Time Trains wrongly seems to morph whilst sitting in platform 1 into 2O04 to Newport which is recorded as an 80x IET.

Apologies if I am being thick, can anyone explain it for me.

It won't be afaik a 80x IET - it may be pathed as one - but certainly if the stock comes off Swindon empty then should be cl387.

2O04 is showing as pathed as 125mph max which seems rather excessive for a class 387, but maybe doesn't really matter on a 13 minute journey, so perhaps I was overthinking it.

Actually now realised following the working, it goes back to Cardiff and then forms IL31 Cardiff - Swindon where it's pathing changes from a 125mph max 80x to a 110mph EMU at Bristol Parkway

The 387s can keep up to IET timings beyond Bristol Parkway (I think the max linespeed is 90?) so no need for a separate 387 timing load into Cardiff.

Looks like it will be 77 trains for this Saturdays Wales vs England Fixture

Great Western Railway will provide 77 trains and more than 40,000 seats for fans attending Saturday’s Wales vs England Six Nations fixture.
The train operator is increasing the use of its capacity-boosting electric-only trains from London, with shuttle services also operating between Cardiff Central and Newport before and after the match.
“We’re pleased to be extending the use of our more sustainable Class 387 electric trains for this fixture. A shuttle service to Newport proved very effective following the Ireland match and this time we’ll also be operating a couple of shuttle services before kick-off.

“They are a great way of freeing up more space on our London and Bristol services and we’re really pleased to operate these electric-only trains in the way we always intended.

“Although we’re able to provide these additional services, we’d like to remind supporters that trains will be extremely busy leading up to kick-off and immediately following the match.

“We would encourage customers to check journey times and allow sufficient time to queue to board trains safely.”
