Only 1 guard out of 6 didn't recognise the ticket and that was on the very last trip coming out of Southport at 20:23. he stared at it for 15 seconds, then grabbed it off me because he thought it was a GMPTE rail ranger, which of course is not valid in Southport. I explained to him where it had come from and asked him if it was his first. He started laughing when he confirmed that it was and shook his head at the price of it. I told him that I had been to York and Carlisle with it and he nearly dropped dead hahaha I was quite surprised he had never been aware of it seeing that he was a Wigan Wallgate guard. Even the young lass on the Blackpoon North - Liverpool Lime Street this afternoon was aware of the damn thing. Still, you live and learn!
PS I'm also sure he want back to the cab and rang control to confirm it
PPS The ride going from Meols Cop to Parbold on a 142 at full speed (assuming you're a non stopper) is the most violent rail journey I have ever experienced. Really bad line quality. You were literally banged against the wall such were the huge lateral forces in some places. Very scary
