Ah ok makes sense, thanks for confirming. Assuming you forgot to say terminating at Crewe.
I did!

Saturdays allocations are done very late. Depends on crewing, maintenance requirements etc. As it stands the way the sat diagrams are is essentially a long winded way of getting a set to Crewe for maintenance and a set off maintenance to Canton ready for Monday.

Thanks to the very helpful information here I was able to travel on my first set yesterday, in an otherwise empty front coach on 1W65 from Crewe to Wilmslow at 21:37.
Perfectly good, nice environment, and a nice step up from even the 175s we've had for a number of years. OK, the train was empty but it just seemed so much better than what we've had before. It's a good number of years since I went to Cardiff on one but the last hour before reaching Newport seemed to drag on.

The ambience in a MK4 is unbeatable. Even with their original BR grey interiors and fittings they oozed calm. The Mallard refurb took that ambience to another level that no other stock has matched. The warm diffused lighting and warm woods were a design master stroke. The VTEC First Class refresh was awful though with it's rag bag of grey, black, red, purple and old navy curtains but the GC sets thankfully addressed that with their mauve retrims.

Did HD06 make it onto 1W96? RTT not really showing set allocations so it’s not easy to keep track where sets currently are?

Over the weekend should have the following for servicable sets:
Crewe ready for service: HD04 HD05
Crewe awaiting shakedown runs: HD02
Holyhead: HD06
Canton: HD01

67013 on 1W57 ( 1052 from Cardiff) got spun at Wilmslow due to late running and whatever 67 was on 1W23 (1649 from Cardiff) made it to Manchester 45 minutes late but the 20:30 back to Crewe it was down to work got cancelled.

Maybe next time I will get lucky. I did like the GC interior of the set with 67013 (DVT 200), the USB sockets are a nice touch.

Does the breakfast menu have a cut off time or is possible to order the pancake and bacon stack (or a full breakfast) on the 1125/1133 departures? The menus make no mention of times but the idea of the pancakes for brunch and a pizza for an early dinner onboard when doing the full route is seriously appealing!

Hi E rail

It would be breakfast Upto 11ish and lunch/dinner after that

Never a mix of both menus on one train as chef needs to sort carts for one or the other

Thanks for that. Perfect excuse to make two trips then!

They're all booked to be 67 leading out of Cardiff and DVT leading out of Holyhead/Manchester. Being the other way around does cause slight complications at Canton and Holyhead for fueling so in an ideal world they would all be that way round.

How does/will that work with the plan for a late night Manchester terminator to rune ECS to Crewe via Warrington? I presume there must be somewhere to turn a rake at Crewe...

The same set is due to run ECS back to Manchester in the morning via the same route, turning it back again.

It's reliant on both the drivers involved signing the route via Warrington however - if one doesn't the set may well end up turned the "wrong" way.

Still hopeful that the 0953 or whatever exactly it is (I thought it was 0956, I'd best check soon!) on Wednesday from Hereford to Manchester has a MK4 set on it, I'm booked in First Class!

That's not a regular Mk4 diagram at the moment so I'd prepare to be disappointed...
