The steam railtour in Ireland used to be a regular event every May. It stopped with Covid-19, and did not even run in 2022. Is it RPSI's intention to revive this event in 2023?

This was cancelled last year as the over complicated runs and position moves meant it wasnt a profitable event. They are still going to do Steam Dreams in May as this is footed by Steam Dreams so no risk, but the May International weekends are over.

Thanks for the info. Sad; I used to look forward to these weekends.

The Steam Dreams week looks great, to go by their brochure, but it is a whole week, and with posh hotels a bit beyond my budget! Interestingly, the brochure says that no. 171 'Slieve Gullion' will be making her debut following restoration. I didn't realise that this had progressed so far - if so, I may go over just to look. I last saw her in action back in 1987 when going on the Ben Bulben weekend to Sligo!

Real pity about the demise of the RPSI's own tours. I enjoyed a couple of them.

Steam Dreams brochure doesn't actually list prices, any idea what they are? Too embarrassed to enquire myself!

Yes, it is a pity. Before Covid it was a highlight of my year to cross the water for a week of exploring Ireland, both on regular services, and the weekend of steam with RPSI. Steam Dreams do give their prices; not for the faint of wallet, although very upmarket, and nice if you can afford it!

although it says page 13!

Thanks. I was looking at their website, which has a form to "request a quote".

I don't mind spending money, within reason, (recent DHRS Darjeeling trip was not cheap), but aroud £500 for an RPSI long weekend is more my kind of thing.
