Some help needed please. I'm looking to take this trip in a few weeks time to watch Warwickshire vs. Sussex.

Having worked through the routing guide there and the fares check rule I think the the valid routing points are Birmingham, Tamworth and Nuneaton for Coleshill and Ford Group and Horsham for Arundel. NRE didn't offer any return fares for Coleshill - Arundel, so I've based on anytime and off-peak singles. Is this correct?

This left me with 33 map combinations! Obviously there is lots of duplication. It seems that the main routes are via London, via Reading (and South London or Southampton) or via Bristol / Bath.

I need a flexible fare as I'm not sure on timings. I'm in no real rush so I'm thinking about breaking journey (potentially several times).
Could someone provide a list of the fare options for through tickets (Is there a "route Bath" for example) and associated validity restrictions? (If there are no return fares from Coleshill, the Birmingham fares would be fine.)

Are there any lines in these general areas that are worth travelling on for the journey itself. There are that many routes that there could be a mapped one, or one that could be covered for a small additional fare.

Thanks in advance

Partial answer: for flexible fares from CEH to ARU you have the route options of +HIGH WYCOMBE and +ANY PERMITTED. You weren't entirely clear whether you are returning same day so here are all the standard return fares. First fare is route +HIGH WYCOMBE and second is +ANY PERMITTED.

Anytime return £138.60/£205
Off-peak return £63.60*/£65.20**
Off-peak day return £57.40*/N/A

*M-F Outbound train must arrive in London Terminals after 1000; return train from London must leave after 0930 unless it is a Chiltern service from Marylebone, in which case any train
**M-F Outbound train must not arrive in London Euston between 0720 and 1128, or in St. Pancras International before 1129, or in London Marylebone before 1005, or in London King's Cross before 1117; return train must depart London Euston between 0926 and 1500 or at or after 1845, or St. Pancras International between 1026 and 1515 or at or after 1859, or London Marylebone any time, or London King's Cross between 0929 and 1457 or at or after 1859 (1815 Fridays).

No restrictions Saturday, Sunday, or bank holidays, and no restriction on what train you take between Victoria and Arundel and v/v.

Routeing: Coleshill Parkway's routeing points are Birmingham Group, Nuneaton, and Tamworth. Arundel's are Ford Group and Horsham. To see if we can prune any of the routeing points, apply the fares check; I'm using the SOS fare here.

CEH-ARU £69.30 +HIGH WYCOMBE/£102.50 +ANY PERMITTED
BHM-ARU is the same, so Birmingham Group is appropriate
NUN-ARU is £95 for +ANY PERMITTED and has no +HIGH WYCOMBE fare, so Nuneaton is appropriate only for the +ANY PERMITTED route, which seems to make some sort of sense :)
TAM-ARU is £103.50, which is higher than CEH-ARU, so Tamworth is not an appropriate routeing point.

At the other end:
CEH-FOD is the same cost as CEH-ARU, so Ford Group is appropriate
CEH-HRH is £58 route +HIGH WYCOMBE, and £92 +ANY PERMITTED, so Horsham is appropriate. (It is also an interesting splitting point as CEH-HRH route KENSINGTN OLYMPIA is only £37.40 return with £9.30 return from HRH-ARU. It is also likely to take a bit of time :))

So our routes are:
Birmingham Group to Ford Group (16 different routes)
Birmingham Group to Horsham (8 different routes)
Nuneaton to Ford Group (25 different routes)
Nuneaton to Horsham (8 different routes)
And each of those includes LONDON as a valid group, piling on extra layers of complexity. I'm interested in routeing, but not interested enough to plough through all the different possiblities. Hope you don't mind :)

No problem at all. I'm thinking of travelling South via Bath and Southampton, probably breaking journey at both places. This route looks valid to me via maps CE+CW. Coming North time will probably be more pressing, so will probably go through London. Are there any time or break of journey restrictions on this route?

CEH-HRH is £58 route +HIGH WYCOMBE, and £92 +ANY PERMITTED, so Horsham is appropriate. (It is also an interesting splitting point as CEH-HRH route KENSINGTN OLYMPIA is only £37.40 return with £9.30 return from HRH-ARU. It is also likely to take a bit of time :))
Thanks for the tip. I think £65.20 is pretty reasonable given the potential flexibility on the ticket (by map combinations) but once I've planned the route I'll look into splitting. One Step at a time!

Yes, that's entirely valid; you can even go from Birmingham to Bath Spa via Smethwick, Worcester, Cheltenham Spa and Newport S.Wales if you want :)

Time and break of journey restrictions are governed by the ticket rather than the route (minor technical point). On the £65.20 ticket there are no break of journey restrictions. The time restrictions are as specified on the footnote marked ** in my post above; on your way back they govern only what time you may depart London Terminals. Your journey from Arundel to London has no time restrictions whatsoever.

Have fun :)
