Broken rail at Alnmouth 17 Jan

I’m on a train to Edinburgh and there is a broken rail at Alnmouth. The Opentrains map shows a bloc and single line working.

There appears to be an avoiding line to the bloc. Is there a reason that can’t be used?

Goods loop maybe?

Depends where the broken rail is.

Those loops between Wooden Gate and Alnmouth are passenger cleared as the Chathill flyer gets put in there to be overtaken on some services. As said in #3 it’ll depend exactly where the fault is.
Thank you. Was just a guess without checking the SA.

The cracked rail was on the down main 6ft north of points, which presumably lead to the loop, hence bi-di single line working.
