Can a Cheshire Day Ranger ticket be bought elsewhere?

I was thinking of travelling from Shrewsbury to Chester and then travelling around on a Cheshire Day Ranger. Can I buy the Day Ranger ticket at Shrewsbury? I've heard about codes for these sort of tickets; does anyone know the code for the Cheshire Day Ranger? (And what is the significance of these codes?)

I believe all non-special offer ranagers/rovers (e.g. not things like LM Great Escape) should be available for purchase at any ticket office or on guards advantix machine (if appropriate).

Not sure about the code for it though.

I think "should" is a good way of putting it - it can be that the staff don't know how to find it (as its naturally something they aren't used to issuing) but I have purchased day rangers from stations other than the starting one

I am not a ticketing expert by any means, but I believe that the rangers/rovers are found together in the same place on the ticketing system.

I have found that marketing of products like this isn't very good! I tried to book a Ffestiniog Round Robin at Wolverhampton Travel Centre last October and they claimed to have never heard about it! That is inspite of it being valid from there! I had to tell the staff about the product!
