Caledonian sleeper from Euston currently 351 minutes late at Stafford. Is this the latest it's ever been? Anyone know why it's so late? Thanks.
Massive overhead line problems at PenkridgeCaledonian sleeper from Euston currently 351 minutes late at Stafford. Is this the latest it's ever been? Anyone know why it's so late? Thanks.
No indication as to the cause of the delay, but it was routed via Bescot last night and took six hours to cover the 2.5 miles betweeen Portobello Junction and Bushbury Junction (near Wolverhamption)Caledonian sleeper from Euston currently 351 minutes late at Stafford. Why was it routed that way, instead of its usual route via the Trent Valley line?Massive overhead line problems at Penkridge

Twitter from Caledonian Sleeper blamed overhead line equipment failure. I note the up Highlander was delayed about 2 hours at Preston - could that be because the driver was trapped on the down Lowlander at Stafford?Caledonian sleeper from Euston currently 351 minutes late at Stafford. RTT says it was terminated at Preston at 0932. Passengers for Edinburgh presumably put on the 0953 but not sure about Glasgow as the 0941 was itself delayed by 40 minutesStrictly speaking a power supply problem, not a problem with the OLE as such.
Its all part of the adventure. Ive woken up before expecting to see Milton Keynes and in fact having a view of Loch Long and northbound expecting to be in the outskirts of Edinburgh but actually being in a freight loop on the outskirts of the Lake District. Virtually nobody uses the sleeper as serious transport!Looking at the RTT for it, I don't like to imagine the disgruntlement felt by passengers waking at, say, 0630, expecting to be somewhere in Scotland and finding themselves... at a stand somewhere in the West Midlands...

Where did you see this?I note the up Highlander was delayed about 2 hours at Preston - could that be because the driver was trapped on the down Lowlander at Stafford?
I regularly use the sleeper train as "serious transport" and personally I have found it much more reliable than the day train. Infact, certainly when heading south, the CS often arrives early. On my last journey - Highlander southbound 29/30 Dec - it beat the floods and arrived at Euston 30mins early. Its all part of the adventure. If you regularly use the sleeper you will recognise what I say is true. Apart from the lowlander northbound on thurs and friday nights and southbound on sun and mon. The sleepers customers are predominantly leisure/ tourist on one off trips. This is not obviously exclusively so but it is predominantly so.I regularly use the sleeper train as "serious transport" and personally I have found it much more reliable than the day train. The CS never gets declassified, it makes an effort to keeps its customers informed, it generally arrives at its destination, has en-suite and it is clean and comfortable. The contrasting day train - Avanti - is quite the opposite!
Its timed for comfort, but it can recover delays to an extent, especially southbound.I regularly use the sleeper train as "serious transport" and personally I have found it much more reliable than the day train.
