Do we think that major stations such as London terminals will see mass redundancies within station grades, with the potential implementation of multi skilling?

Regards
A concerned employee

They don't seem to be filling any of the vacancies at the moment so maybe that is the route they are going down. No need to pay people off then.

Unless no compulsory redundancies can be guaranteed; that's anybody's guess.

Blackfriars would be an example, London Bridge too.

I don’t think mass redundancies are likely anywhere, but multi skilling (or de skilling) of station grades seems inevitable.

As @ComUtoR notes dispatchers were dispensed with at Blackfriars. They’re not generally required to dispatch 700s at London Bridge (but are still required on the Southeastern Platforms), so that gives an indication of direction of travel.

London Bridges gate line routinely has lots of open gate lines. Seems really poorly managed but not surprisingly with South Eastern at the helm. Even when fully operational staff normally leave a paddle open for the fare evaders.

Many of my friends know this and never touch in on the metro lines as revenue protection is non existent once onboard or rarely at SE suburban gate lines. Whoever is in charge of revenue at South Eastern must be the most inept employee in the industry.

Even when all the gates are in use, there will be some who know they can simply push their way out via the wide access gate knowing that the staff are powerless to do anything about it.
