Once HS2 opens, a recast of services in Coventry Corridor(Recast of services post-HS2 Phase 1), Wolverhampton Corridor(New service pattern on Birmingham – Wolverhampton line post HS2 Phase 2) and Water Orton Corridor(New service pattern on Birmingham – Derby line as Birmingham - Nottingham services provided by HS2) was stated in WMRIS 2022-2050

However, I was worried if it turns out to be some service reduction in the corridors stated below. If this happens, will it lead to surplus rolling stock in conventional lines? In Japan, there are cases when expansion of Shinkansen has lead to surplus in Conventional Rolling Stocks and especially the aging sleepers were scrapped due to the cancellation of Blue Train.

The 390s will be life expired when HS2 opens. None of their continental cousins have made it to the 30 year mark - the first Italian Pendolinos only made it to 27; that said the oldest remaining Pendolinos in Italy are now 27 years old and as far as I know aren’t lined up for replacement yet.

The 805s and 807s (assuming the latter ever does work on the WCML) likely won’t stay on the WCML when HS2 opens. Easier to cascade them elsewhere and have a uniform fleet on the WCML.

The 350/1s will also be due for replacement around the time that HS2 opens.

Will 54 trains really be required for all of the phase one services on HS2? I’m not convinced that many will be needed until phase 2, so there’s the possibility of HS2 units running into Euston on the WCML.

I don't think that there is anything to be worried about. Certainly not now, ~15 years before HS2 Phase 2 is due to be commissioned.

Any chance of the line to Holyhead being electrified in the next 20 years?

Doubt it, but is there really going to be any need to retain the through service? The only reason it’s survived this long is politics.
