I don’t think I have ever had a delay caused by a unit issue since their introduction and they certainly are a incomparable improvement over a sprinter
But to my daughter ( not familiar with why they are called basil) they are always going to be basils in a loving way as she corrected a young lad watching one pass recently

Today we have 3+3+4 working the 0624 ex-Norwich and 0900 return, expect it will stay on diagram for 1132. 755404 /337/ 327 doing the honours. Not overcrowded as it's a Monday and connection missed from East Suffolk line too.

Anyone wanting a coffee will need to join the correct portion as the trolley currently doesn’t move between units. Then again not much choice as the 06:24 ex-Norwich is so busy.

Not really convinced 3x 755 is better than 1x745/1 on the intercity service, or that Nin90 needs to return.

The 755s have tables I guess.
Agree the NiN vanity project is of questionable value.

Totally agree. Once all 321s are gone and they recast the timeable they can speed it up, especially as the timetable has a lot of slack already and has for many years. An Ni90 could be made from an existing service like the 17:00 ex-LST and remove a couple of calls and would be an improvement. They could use a fast GE service to pick up Colchester and Manningtree calls for example to avoid crowding the ICs rather than add an extra IC. That would solve two problems. You'd have your Ni90 and reduce overcrowding.

They should carrying on using 720s for some Stansted diagrams as they are now rather than shovel more 745s onto the WA. The trolley staying in one unit plus the absence of first class shouldn't become the norm on the IC.

I’m not convinced there’s demand anymore for Ni90 (if there ever was really) especially as 17:00 is a bit too early, but if it was to return you’d have to bump the current 17:02 Ipswich back a few minutes. That said a 17:02 making ‘normal‘ stops would restore the Colchester connections into the 17:56 Walton and maintain the Harwich connections at Manningtree.

Trouble is there is now no fast business train. The East Anglian has had an 09:25-09:35 arrival and 17:00 departure from Liverpool St (SX) almost continuously since electrification was inaugurated in May 87.

The thought of 755s running Norwich to London (yet to use the service ) does remind me of travelling early days of the 170s on the route and always choosing them for it feeling a lot more like a swift 1st class service almost exclusive service compared to a mk2 and an 86 even tho that was still awesome at the time
I can almost imagine a 755 being a similar experience compared to 745 probably due to the size
Still haven’t been on a 755 on the lecky yet but I gather it will be worth the wait

Yes. In the up direction there was a 170 from Yarmouth (07:51 Norwich) that ran non-stop to Ipswich attaching to an East Suffolk portion (06:44 Lowestoft) which departed Ipswich 08:30 non-stop to Liverpool St arriving 09:35. In the down direction it was a loco-hauled set departing 17:00.

Only one each way daily unless there’s disruption. That should ramp up next year to two all day diagrams if rumours are true. Very popular with passengers when enough capacity is provided ie 3x755 due to the provision of tables.

Yes that's booked for sn airport. Often a very busy train that.

I think 755s are much nicer, less of an aeroplane feel than 745s which feel like a long metal tube.

Don't remember us on the Breckland line getting a through service to London.

Whoops my bad. I forgot the Breckland. No nothing there since the 06:38 ex-Norwich & 18:05 ex-Liverpool St which last ran in the late 80s. Only exception where the through trains that way during the 2004 Ipswich tunnel blockade but they where non-stop.

I'll let you off, travelled on the through train from Attleborough a couple of times, and once on a Sunday afternoon on a direct train from Thetford to Liverpool Street. Remember that one as the whole train was formed of first class carriages and a TTI was yelling out "sit where you like, they're all second class except this one!"

The only booked working is 1P34 (SX) 14:00 ex-Liverpool St but can be hit/miss.
