Not planned for now, but what would happen if I tried to board the Caledonian Sleeper at an unmanned station without a seat reservation and the train was fully booked? Would I be allowed to board?

the sleeper has staff who would ask for tickets and if non produced prob would get kicked off at next station, saw it happen once when on the glasgow to london portion, guy got on thinking he could buy onboard and got kicked off at motherwell

But I suspect it would depend where you boarded. I can't imagine anyone being thrown off a Corrour at nine in the evening for example.
However staff normally check tickets when people board.
I wonder if they would let someone board who was stranded at Corrour and travel to say Glasgow even if they weren't booked?

I'm assuming for this discussion that I had a some kind of flexible ticket but not a reservation for that train.
I have on the past joined at Preston (with a colleague) without reservations and without a ticket in my colleague's case. We asked the onboard staff if there was any availability to Inverness - yes, no problem, jump on. A welcome response at 1 a.m.I'm assuming for this discussion that I had a some kind of flexible ticket but not a reservation for that train.
But there was availability that night.
Other possibilities are available!

Why not just phone the call centre and make a reservation? Otherwise you risk the train leaving your station early without you if they have picked up everyone they were expecting.I'm assuming for this discussion that I had a some kind of flexible ticket but not a reservation for that train.
