Train delayed due to an error having been made

Does anybody know what the above actually means? It seems 09:42 Manchester-Sheffield service last Friday terminated at Chinley for this exact reason according to Real Time Trains:

Whatever it was it delayed services to/from Sheffield in the area for over an hour including 10:18 TPE service from Manchester Piccadilly-Cleethorpes which ended up being delayed and eventually left Stockport 66 late.

Am I right in thinking that it could have something to do with the driver taking the wrong train and not realising and if so how often does this sort of thing happen on the railways?

No.

A freight train (4H89) took a wrong route and services had to be stopped while it was dealt with. There was no error made with 2S78.

4H89 was 12 minutes late before Chinley North Junction, then shows 105 minutes late afterwards.

Indeed, and it should be spelt 'mis-routeing' ('routing' is what is done to wood) - not blaming you, BTW!

I use the word "routeing" a lot, but OED says that the spelling "routing" is an acceptable alternative. The latter can also be the present participle of "to rout", whereas the former cannot.
