It does set you up nicely for a different TOC I guess.

Interesting how they’ve contacted you already, I sat mine on the 17th and yet to hear. It seems they may not be doing this entirely chronologically. Super anxious now!

Yes that is a bit strange, maybe they are notifying the people who didnt pass the advanced first

There’s not been any pass notifications yet (well not on here anyway). I wonder if they are contacting those who didn’t make enhanced first and taking longer to inform those who did as dates need to be arranged for the next round of assessments for those people? We love to speculate don’t we!

Also, is there other chats on this forum people are in who are at the same stage or has everyone kind of used this as the main one for us all going through the same situation etc?

I don’t know if there are other chats. I don’t think so but I’m pretty new to this forum so what do I know! I’ll be holding onto the speculation too. Fingers are hurting from all this crossing!

Hi guys just wanted to ask do Avanti require enhance pass or advanced pass but also are they doing an early 2023 recruitment for more depots including Wolverhampton?

They only use enhanced. And no idea about more recruitment dates. Avanti/Virgin are historically a company that don't advertise much. I've maybe seen 2 or 3 adverts in the last couple of years

For those who didn't pass to Avanti but got National, the main thing is that you didn't lose a life.
So please keep trying, even if its with an Enhanced TOC and you have to go through all the tests, at least you can take on board the experience you've just had.

Who knows, with Avanti current driver shortage, they may have another recruitment drive in 6 months or so...

For everyone else who hasn't heard yet, good luck. May the odds be ever in your favour.

Only life lost is with avanti I believe. But it's still confusing how the 2 life system works

Shame really because a train driver that only managed the standard pass rate still might be a better driver than someone who passed at enhanced.

I understand they get so many applicants that’s they probably just want to reduce the number they need to be interviewed.

Well done! Did you feel that you had done really well after the tests had finished?
Thank you! The memory test I wasn't too sure, I thought I could have got 3/4 wrong and went away 50/50 as to if those were right or not, the rest I was confident. The GB test I was about 11 lines but again wouldn't know if I'd missed any..I was wondering if I'd tried to go too fast on this and could probably have slowed down.
I've been not too sure whilst waiting because of the memory test so maybe I got more right than I thought. I nearly finished the dials and the phone book I found easy

Well done. Have they given you a date for your 2nd assessment day?
Thanks, 2nd Dec...

That’s a good thing to be able to gauge what is needed to pass, thanks. Sounds like you smashed it

I was similar. The dots and the memory test I felt confident about.

The dials one I got 35/43 so no idea there and I found the phone directory least confident.

Tones I was totally unsure about but don't think I missed any and the directories I think I got through 3/4 both times.

I only did it yesterday though so I've still got a while to wait for my results

Well done, I've got my fingers crossed for you, I hope the wait isn't too painful, mine took 7 days

35/43 is a good score and they're not negatively marked either

40. I felt confident as I was doing it that each answer was right

People have lost a life now with any Toc that uses enhanced rates

No lives have been lost if you pass to national standards. What is generally the case is that you won't be able to reapply to the TOC you failed to make the enhanced score with for 6 months.

It's also worth noting that as we don't know what the enhanced pass scores are from TOC to TOC, it's possible that your score maybe good enough at one but not at another.

The examiners told us that if you don't reach their required level that's one of your chances. So with avanti you'd only be able to apply once more and have to wait 6 months.

That being said I don't know it works with other TOCs as enhanced is what they deem it so as you said National with one could be enhanced with another.

Interesting only 3 people have had their results (or posted about them) and only 1 full pass.

Well another day goes by. Hopefully tomorrow ladies and gents

Still haven't heard anything (test day 16th) getting nervous now even though its only just over a week and we were told 7-10 days I think?! Also heard back from GTR about tests so need to know how I've done here before I can do anything.

Sounds like dials may be my downfall. 21 but all correct in my mind. I’m just hopeful for national pass now.

Don't fret until you've got the email. We have no idea what the criteria or scoring system is. You may of low points on one and high points on another anywhere inbetween
