Those that have attended already... I assume everyone is suited up? (I will be, and was previously for assesment, just curious if that's been the general consensus since it's at Avanti and not in some random hotel with OPC)
Yes mate, suited up. There was one lad with jeans and a smart jumper but he wasn’t turned away.

You are not alone brother. You are not alone…
I don’t think I’ve viewed spam emails as quickly as I have this last few weeks haha!

I went suited but not everyone was, as long as you're dressed smart I don't think it would be an issue. You'd probably get away with shirt, jumper, smart trousers and shoes.

Mines on Wednesday and I will but being as it's not actually an interview then smart casual they're happy with as well

I wore a suit and tie as did most of the other guys. There were a few in smart casual which appeared fine. I didn’t feel out of place though thanks to the rest of the guys who were in suits!

Had the assessment centre at Crewe today, the memory (TRP Part 1) was certainly the challenging one in my opinion. Everyone including other candidates were absolutely lovely!

All instructions are really clear and examiners are more than happy to go through the instructions again and answer any questions you may have. If you're not sure, please make sure you ask!

How long was the passage? Any tips when doing it?

Is anyone else strangely looking forward to their assessment dates? I'm filled with both dread and anticipation and want to both get it over and done with but also want to embrace the time I have left to prepare. But overall I'm feeling strangely confident about the whole thing for some reason even if I am a bit wary.

1 page, a few paragraphs of varying length. You'll be given a good amount of time to read so just take your time. It's not an overwhelming amount but take notes and read a few times.
How long do you get to read it? It’s the one I’m most apprehensive about. I’m hoping it’s still on glop!

I need to be careful not too give too much away. Can't go jeopardising my own results.

You'll have plenty of time to read. I managed to read the passage a couple of times including making notes.

Yeah sure! I’m just hoping it’s an adequate amount of time as the ones I’ve been practicing only give you 3 mins and it’s a fair amount to get through. Good luck with your results

I was at Crewe this morning. I agree the group of candidates were very warm welcoming. Made the morning less stressful.

From what I've read you get 5 minutes to read it, but different places give you time also to look at your notes. Then some are straight into the questions and some make you wait a couple of minutes before starting.

Ok, thanks for the heads up :)

Had my assessment today. I don't want to give anything away as it is designed to test your suitability for the role.

But my only advice is to not overthink everything like I did going into it.

The tests are simple enough but little things can catch you out.

Some tests you'll find really easy, some will be harder as nobody is the same. All I'll say is to stay calm and go through to the best of your ability.

Now I've got 7-10 days to anxiously wait for my results

Just had my email from my test on the 18th at crew, passed national but failed avanti
Sorry to hear this, I've just done mine today. Didn't feel too confident about certain bits so probably expecting the same rejection email. But only time will tell

It does set you up nicely for a different TOC I guess.

Interesting how they’ve contacted you already, I sat mine on the 17th and yet to hear. It seems they may not be doing this entirely chronologically. Super anxious now!

I sat my tests on the 16th and not heard anything yet either! I was hoping chronologically was how they were going to do it so I could gauge when I was going to be contacted… yes, even more anxious now haha! Bad luck to all that only passed to national but like a few have said, it isn’t a fail and sets you up nicely for the computer tests with a different TOC so all help isn’t lost! For those still waiting like me… good luck and I hope for a positive response on this thread soon! :)
