Actually, come to think of it another thing I own is a copy of the Centenary edition of the Story of the Underground. It goes into all sorts of details, and suggests that the Victoria Line *will* (that's how old it is!) solve some of the congestion problems on the Piccadilly. It also has a copy of Beck's legenadry map from the early 1930s in the back... which is worrying when you're from Southend and it says "Southend" on it.

I recall once seeing a copy of a very old UndergrounD map that showed Southend, I am not sure if that referred to connections to there at Upminster or Barking, but I think I did hear that sometimes, perhaps in busy holiday periods or weekends that the District Line may of ran the odd through train to Southend, I guess they would had to have been diesel or steam haul for part of the journey, (I understand that also used to happen on the Met line when that used to run to Aylesbury & beyond to deepest Rural Buckinghamshire.) <& If anyone is interested on that note Hastings Diesels may be running a trip to the Quainton area later this year.>:D Rgds Steve

Why not give them to the Tanfield Railway? They'd appreciate them and probably use them.
I knew the former curator of the NRM and he gave a few tours of their warehouse - if you saw the mind boggling amount of historic gear they have stashed away which NEVER goes on public view you'd know what I mean.

Never been to tanfield and hence i don't know, personly. If i think they'd go to use or not.
I know Shildon need tools and more specificly the Merlin Locomotive Group.

I've thought about joining Wear Dale, but my father in law used to volunteer up there. Until someone half inched his rather large generator, everyone with some authority at Wear dale said it'd been nicked by some randomer.

Apparently the same generator has re-appeared at Wear dale a year after my father in law left.
So thats left a sting in the throat over Wear dale, before i even set foot up there.

I'd give them to NYMR if i thought they'd need them, but they seem pretty well equiped.
I think NYMR is crying out for infrastructure help atm more than anything else.

Quainton sounds good :D

District services used to run all over the shop. They served Windsor in the 1880s, and ran some trains fast between Barking and Leigh-on-Sea before ending at Southend Central or Shoeburyness (where I grew up) between 1910 and 1939. Whether the war had anything to do with it, I don't know.

If you are thinking about joining an RPS, I am a member of the Yorkshire Wolds Railway who plan to rebuild part of the Malton & Driffield Railway which closed to passengers in 1950 and freight in 1958.
Check out our website http://www.yorkshirewoldsrailway.org.uk/

We have a public meeting at the Old Lodge Hotel in Malton at 19.30 Thursday March 17th.

I can definitely confirm that the District Railway used to run specials to "Saarfend" . My mum was always telling me about when she was a nipper she went on day trips there from Ealing Broadway. They used two district railway electric locos to Upminster (I think) then a London Tilbury & Southend steam loco would take over hauling the District Railway stock to Southend. Now wouldn't that be a novel railtour today using Sarah Siddons and som loco hauled stock ;)

On a train...somewhere!
I've got a station sign for Cramlington, 2 AWS indicators (from a class 31), a speedometer, a class 37 ammeter, NRN handset and cradle, BR electric shock treatment notice from cab bulkhead (still in frame).

On top of that I've got Hi vis vests from various companies, lots of GC stuff and a few other odds and ends like seat reservations and destination labels :)

Would love to come and have a chat and see whats, what.
But i'm on long term sick from work (27 weeks now) and no car (stolen) :(
If and when i return to work and acquire another car, i'll have to pop up when time allows.

I've got too many small items to list but the larger things I have cluttering up the garden (much to the disgust of my wife) include a 40 mph diverging junction psr sign
http://anoraksia.ukgeeks.co.uk/p23919680.html

Not pictured is a semaphore distant signal arm (but no post unfortunately) and several BR station signs - none of the emamel totem type though, they are a bit beyond my means. One of my signs can be seen here:

There's also a collection of different types of track chairs and baseplates around my vegetable patch.

In the house I've got a minuature enamel totem with "British Railways" on it, which I think came from the top of a notice board, and a BR(W) brown enamel Waiting Room sign.

Cast BR logo from unknown loco.

Old London roundel bus stop sign, (red background, white roundel)

I've got part of one of the last surviving number decals from 50017s LMS paint scheme. Half of one of the '7s' came off near intact, so I grabbed it! I know for a fact that the rest of the numbers came off in little pieces - so I think I've got something quite unique!

I have the LNER General Appendix to the Rules, Working Timetables for the Scottish Region Dated 1st November 1947. Maybe the last one before Nationalisation? Also still have an adjustable spanner branded LNER and (i presume its the date) branded 9/47. BR Drivers Handbook (Road Vehicles) and an odd one.. BR Carbon paper! All came from my dad!

Also have his log book for cars he hired when he worked for the R&D during 1980 and some of the places are now long gone or sold off. St Andrews, Gleneagles, Dunfermline Upper....

Have a BTC Appendix from 1951 and one or two Signalmans Handbooks from Northern Ireland Railways and CIE (NIR 1975ish and CIE 1989)
