He said the CBI is the next stage.

== Doublepost prevention - post automatically merged: ==

Where did he say he passed? He did them yesterday and said will get results in the next 7 days.

Did no one read it properly lol :D:rolleyes:
Lol! No, they didn’t ask for anything regarding the CBI. Just sat the paper tests and that was it. No dates were given either.. just within 7 working days you’d be notified whether you passed or failed.

Nice one... Good job pal, I've got mine at 1230.... Sat in the car park shaking!!!
Relax man. You’ll feel better once it gets started. Felt better than I expected. Hopefully not a false sense of success!

Same here. We were told 7-10 working days for results and that if we pass at national standard it would still be valid for other companies that don’t require enhanced standard.

They also said the next stage ‘could’ be at Watford but uncertain. Hopefully it is at Watford next time (if I pass!)

Oh and I also saw one of the ladies marking the papers as we worked through them so hopefully not too long a wait for results.

There were around 12/13. The capacity of that room was possibly 15.
Interesting! From what people have said on here it looks like they’re running assessments from the 16th Nov to 2nd Dec, which at 30 people per day means they’ve whittled it down to 390 people. Coincidence?

Wow I’d have thought it be less than that! Does anyone know how many drivers they are aiming to recruit?

I did my assessments yesterday.. it was tough going but that was to be expected! All the practice material they provide in the PDF is all you need for these tests and will put you in good stead. I was there for 3 hours for all the tests to be completed. You do not get sent home if you ‘fail’ a test.. you will sit all tests you’ve been sent in the email and OPC will contact you within the next 7 working days confirming whether you passed or failed and then will invite you back for stage 2 which will be the computer tests + CBI.

Best advice I can give to everyone is just remain calm.. there’s nothing there to trick you out. As long as you’ve put the practice in you’ll be fine :)
Just left the centre having completed the paper tests. Feeling confident
Best of luck to you both on your results! How did you find the TRP1 part of the test where you read an excerpt and then answer multiple-choice questions? Did any of you also take notes during the test?

Avanti haven't specified anywhere how many drivers they are taking on, but seeing as it's a talent pool it might be safe to assume they're at least taking on a few for every depot. Unfortunately nobody can be sure at this point.

Yeah exactly that mate.. although they didn’t mention about it being at Watford. In my case, I hope it stays at Crewe because that’s where I live and it takes me 7 mins to drive there haha! Good luck with the next stage anyway mate :) hope the next email is a good one!

I found TRP part 1 quite easy. Was only not completely sure about 1/2 questions but I think I got them right. I took notes as it helps me to process information and find it helps to remember things by writing them down.

As for the group bourdon, I felt it went better than I thought. I think I managed around 12 lines for each part. Others managed less and some managed more! After a couple of parts my eyes started to blur and water and became quite challenging but overall I’m happy with how it went (I think?!)

The one I found trickiest (others found this one easy) was counting the tones while circling the symbols. Individually they are easy but doing them both together proved a little tricky (for me). I guess it all depends on how your brain is wired that determines which you find tricky/easy.

Fingers and toes crossed!

How many questions do we have to answer for the TRP1? Is it a passable amount or do they give you too many to finish?

I was fairly on par with you it seems.. group bourdon, was around 12-13 lines on each part. Hopefully little to no errors! I finished all the cables & dials (TRP part 2) and I actually found the tones and symbols the easiest? Go figure! I think on TRP part 1 I was 50/50 on 2 maybe 3 answers but I’m hoping either the pass mark allows you to have a couple incorrect or I picked the right one! Fingers crossed :) I felt as though they went as good as they could have done though.

That’s some going 12-13 lines. I’m getting 10 max with the odd error in practice.

How many squares/groups across are on your practice material? I’ve seen some with 12 across and some with 25 so this could be why it seems you’re getting less? No idea what the actual test has.

You finished the dials and cable test? All 42 odd questions in 8 minutes? Hmmmm

I can’t remember now but I think it was 16 unless I’ve completely lost the plot! Whatever it was, it was comfortably manageable in the time given.

I couldn’t finish the cables and dials section, managed 38 questions but hopefully all correct. As for TRP1 I think I got them all right, there was 1 maybe 2 questions I was sort of 80% certain on. Hopefully got enough to see me through!

One thing I will say is I practised very little, literally once each of the practice material and downloaded a few examples of each of the three test practice questions and that was it - 2 sittings. I didn’t feel like practising any more would have improved my effort any more. Maybe ever so slightly with the multitasking but that’s it really.

To do 42 questions in 8 minutes might seem remarkable when you consider that would require spending no more than 5 seconds per question, but I honestly believe it's possible if you know what you're doing. The dials tests from what I have seen are relatively simple and easy to understand. Of course seeing as they don't expect you to complete these tests I would argue that prioritising accuracy over completion is still a must.

That's the whole concept. It's accuracy most important with a consistent pace

There was 43 questions to do in 8 minutes.. and yes, I finished it. I’ve no reason to lie on here. I did the last one and a few seconds later she said stop. I practiced that test quite a bit and was always really quick with it.

The guy that was sat on my table managed 12 and seemed pretty amazed I’d finished it. Doesn’t count for anything though if I failed one of the others haha

I practiced using the how2become dots book which I think was 11x15 but the test on the day is a bit bigger and the dots aren’t in squares

I bet you're glad you're not having to sit a maths test.
While I'm somewhat rusty on the subject, an actual and civil correction would've still been preferable to the blatant condescending sarcasm.

I’ve been using the practice sheets with 25 across which I believe the test has

The tests are not designed to be finished. You're defeating the purpose if you think they are.

you may think that you've got it in the bag because you finished it but as I say its not the purpose to finish it; you should hope that you haven't done yourself an injustice

Never once said I’d ‘got it in the bag’. I think I actually said that it counts for nothing if I’ve failed one of the other tests. We’ll just have to wait and see.. I’ll be sure to keep you updated :)

Are you saying that finishing could be seen as a fail? Even if it was 100% accurate?

No. If you manage to complete the entire task with 100% accuracy then thats the best score. Why would it be classed as a fail? The post just means don’t concentrate on trying to complete the task, concentrate on doing as much as you can without error.
