2022 New Haulages

It's been a few weeks since I scored anything in the UK, but a visit to the Midlands today netted a few things in the book...

First was to ride behind 08738 on a BLS trip at the Chasewater Railway. After that, a Daytripper produced my first two 196s (196102/110) along with my penultimate 350 (350369), two of my last six 390s for 'extending' (135 & 151) and my first Urbos 100 tram (40). Plans to do get more trams were thwarted by strike action/non running on the new extension, but still a good day!

The GWR 387 I was after wasn't on London trips yesterday, so I looked at Marylebone which I hadn't visited for a while.
I was pleased to see that Chiltern now show unit numbers on RTT (is this new or have I not been paying attention?), so I spent too much time
in their area and didn't get as much done as hoped.
Nice to catch the Southeastern 707 at last.

After getting back into London after a walk in Peterborough (after the trip to Spalding), hunted down that 700 which I saw earlier in the day on Orpington services, then did a short overground session getting lucky with 3 low mileage 378s in a row, including one which was on 9 miles so didn't take much to push it over ten.

There were a couple of large puddles which needed navigation but generally the route was firm and dry, particularly on the Rowfant to E.G. section, which is mainly the old track bed.
Boots didn't even need cleaning after.

Thanks from me too, I didn't know about the Worth Way but I am intrigued. It has potential for an interesting day out.

I *was* going on a rail adventure yesterday but changed that to a day on Stagecoach buses instead. I had a great time on a whistlestop tour of Oxford and made plenty of notes about the A40 between Cheltenham and Witney, so it was a productive day

I could have gone and scored a required 165 out of Oxford, but the connection was tight. Exploring the beautiful city won, but I did see some trains while on the Thames Path!

So the return of my red pen is delayed, but it is due to return soon!

I actually had a really good day, all but the first journey of 6 had those leather-like seats with USB charging available. I had zero complaints about my Stagecoach journeys!

There is a flame that's getting bigger, the internal fire is starting to request some trains again though! There may be some trains on Wednesday, or indeed this Sunday if I can justify the expense! My first 196 may be coming up soon!
