Does anyone know how long the NYMR trains stop at stations - I'm thinking of getting the 16.00 Pickering - Goathland (arr 16.50) and the last train back is at 16.50 too. Is there enough time between arrival and departure to make the change? Otherwise I'm stuck at Goathland or Grosmont (or need to change at an earlier station).

Typically several minutes, and people do change, but the footbridge can get crowded, so I would tell the guard or ticket collector of your plan!

At Goathland the train to Pickering usually arrives after the one from Pickering. The train to Pickering can't leave until the Pickering train has arrived and the single line token has been taken into the signal box and reissued. This takes a few minutes, so there should be enough time.
Tomorrow (Sunday) is the last day of running until the Santa specials, by the way.

Although the 1630 ex Grosmont usually waits for the 1600 ex Pickering.
Slightly different timetable Sunday then no ordinary through trains until next year.
