Hi everyone I am new here, I am one of the lucky ones to have been given a conditional offer to start in January as well. I was just told that after having done the CTC clearance application that I will now have to redo it as it is SC clearance that they require. Has anyone else been told the same?

Once we have formal offers I’d like to set a group up for us if you’re up for it.

It appears SC is slightly more advanced than the CTC we have just completed, it appears during an SC they check financial history.

The CTC was done pretty quickly, if we have the email for the SC in the next day or two and complete it this week, we’ll all be in a good position by end of November I’d hope.

I have a friend who did the SC albeit for another job and because it was "fast tracked" only took 2 weeks. I think a WhatsApp group is inevitable so would love to join as we're going to need all the help we can get!

Nice one, well done mate. I got through the process as well but was notified last week that all the positions were already taken. A bit strange that you managed to get a DMI interview but I assume yours was booked a few weeks ago? Can't advise on the DMI interview itself because I've not had one unfortunately but I wish you luck mate.

You’re interview may differ so bare that in mind (but unlikely)

They never asked anything about the company but instead they give you an overview of themselves.

No curve balls, no trick questions, genuinely was a pleasant interview.

I’m a signaller already so we naturally had a little back and forth with each other.

To be a signaller did you have anything previously done to back you for that position? & When applying for a signaller position do you look for a trainee option or just a standard signaller position and they provide the training?

Nope, just applied straight from the street. I was in the army before hand but we have people from all walks of life.
Yes, you would just apply for a signaller position and you will then be trained for the role and paid a grade lower.
For example I’m grade 7, my basic salary is £43k, during testing I’d get grade 6 £39k.

I’m sure there’s opportunities to earn more

Goes up to grade 9. Also I believe that in signalling you get extra night and weekend allowance.

we do get extras and some good perks. But yes, at base value it’s not great in comparison to drivers.
Hence I’m making the switch, I want to earn more for doing and knowing less and have less responsibilities.
