Mysterious charter York 10:30 today

Arriving at York at 12:50 today, I noticed that the departure board was showing a "10:30. - delayed' departure with the destination and calling points both showing as 'Charter service'. A look in RTT showed no likely train. Perhaps there was no train and this was displayed in error. Does anyone know more?

Statesman Rail had a Chester-le-Street - Carlisle and return via the S&C which has been postponed to next year due to the derailment at Petterill Bridge. It had already been postponed from 1st October due to RMT!

Yes, I realised it would be something like that after I posted! Is Heaton too busy these days? I guess it could also wait on the Forth Banks siding before heading into Central and departing via the High Level Bridge to avoid a reversal.
But Tube Yard being massive, underutilised and with a driver's depot attached is probably easier and more practical all round.

Heaton is indeed rather busy, although Newcastle itself is the bigger problem - Charter sets are tight on lengths between the signals, and Locos are banned from being planned over the High Level Bridge (there are exceptions during disruption) so you need to be able to reverse in Newcastle. Finding a platform slot long enough to board a charter isn't easy.

I can imagine Tyne Yard will also be cheaper to stable in than a TOC Depot as well, even if the TOC Depot has more facilities.

Not cheap enough though. Only DB tours will stable Tyne Yard, others will just leave Carnforth or Crewe very early and wait on the Slow line for the path.
