Southern DaySaver - Valid on other TOCs?

As the direct Southern Services between London Victoria and Brighton are suspended is the Daysaver accepted on other TOC.
I wish to view Brighton Depot passing and don't think any Southern services do.

Southern DaySave is a ticket for use on Southern branded services, whereever they may run. It isn't just Preston Park to Brighton where there are no Southern branded services on the 'Southern network'.
There aren't any off-peak Southern-branded services between Redhill and Gatwick either. Unfortunately, there isn't any publicly advertised acceptance on other branded services within the GTR operation just because a Southern branded service once ran over a given route.

Your DaySave ticket is valid for one day and can be used for Standard Class travel only. These tickets are not valid on Gatwick Express, Thameslink, Great Northern or services from any other train operator.

Best bet is an off-peak day return from Brighton to Preston Park, £2.20 with a railcard.

Id say the chances of a revenue check between Preston Park and Brighton on a Thameslink service are close to zero. Preston Park doesnt have barriers at Brighton you only go through the barriers to exit the station.

Although as has been said on here many times, is the Southern Only restriction actually enforceable?

In this case you need to travel on a Southern service to Hove, and change trains at Preston Park.

Alternatively, you may also consider to change trains at Hove without paying extra, but the distance will be longer than changing at Preston Park.

Whilst the distance is (slightly) longer via Hove, you generally get better connections via Hove anyway - for example, on the 11:15 from Victoria to Littlehampton on next Monday changing at Hove, you’d get to Brighton off the Hove shuttle before even leaving Preston Park if you changed there instead.

It's a GTR specific product so it's only valid on services operated by GTR.

That does include all GTR brands within the relevant area of validity.

GTR take the alternative view that they are permitted to restrict tickets by brand and therefore deny travel on their other brands on this ticket; there is a legal case on this matter which will be heard next year.

Passengers who previously were charged additional fares on such tickets for using Gatwick Express branded trains were refunded on appeal.

What would a customer be "getting away with"? Brand specific tickets are not permitted under the TSA and NRCoT.

Last time I done a Southern Daysave a few years ago, I remember that it could also be used on the GatEx extensions between Gatwick and Brighton. This was when the Class 442s to Brighton were extensions of the regular London Victoria - Gatwick Airport. Does this arrangement still apply today...
