Not quite fitting your exact criteria, but I've never been to the Isles of Scilly from Penzance, 28 miles by sea route, though the internet will tell you it's 47 miles with a precise driving time of 5hrs 8 mins! Another website tells you a no. 18 bus will get you there. With the prices that are charged, either by ferry or the dearest helicopter fare in the world, I'm not in the least tempted, and frankly don't think I've missed very much.

From Newcastle, nearest larger settlement would be Peterlee for me. Or as a suburb then most parts of Sunderland.
Don't think you've missed a great deal by not popping down the village! Have to say that I'm not sure I ever went through/to Stonnall when living in the hills.
From being now in Berkshire, it looks like the closest settlement I've not been to might be Donkey Town, although that could almost be classedas partly West End.

I have an easy answer... I live in Abbey Wood, just south of the Thames in East London, and there are no local Thames crossings here (closest is the Woolwich DLR, 3 miles away). So, head just 2 miles North from my house, and you hit a whole range of communities that I've never visited (Barking Riverside, Dagenham, etc.) because there's no easy way for me to get to them!

Titsey? That's a bit niche! It'd be a bit difficult to accidentally find yourself there, wouldn't it, unless you got terribly lost trying to get onto the M25? I only know it because sixty years ago we used to go there blackberrying every year. I don't think many more people live there now than they did then, and we rarely came across any.

I have never been to Lent Rise (nearest suburb of Slough to me) which is just over a mile from my house.
Yes. A small number of places I've crawled through with bad traffic at walking speed and don't wish to return to have the same experience (Bristol!!)
I have been to Banks many times to visit relatives and I look forward to visiting the new Co-op on the site of the sadly demolished New Fleetwood public house. Mine from Southport will be either Parbold or Hightown, despite having passed through both of them many times on the train. A quick look at a map reveals that I have actually been to every single named settlement closer than both of these to Southport and many further away.

I live in Batley. I've never been to the village of Gawthorpe a couple of miles away, which signposts tell me is "home of the world coal-carrying championships".
How would you define going to somewhere? I've never set foot in Ouston, for example, a village about 5 miles from me - but have passed through several times on a bus.
The nearest place I've never been through is Clara Vale (8 miles). If we're only going by large-ish places, then it's probably Rothbury or Evenwood (both about 25 miles).

I guess Balmerino - about 7.5km as the crow flies.
Local to me, it would probably be Knowsley village. I've never been there or even through it on a bus. There are a few villages on the Wirral I've also never visited or passed through, especially towards the south of the peninsula.

Quite a few areas of Clydebank, Glasgow and the surrounding towns I've never been to, a few I've passed through on the bus/train though. Have never visited Lanark or Larkhall. Have been to Carluke, but I didn't venture beyond the confines of the station.

Aughton, near Lancaster, which is about 10 miles NE of where I live. The one time I tried to drive there (when I had a car) I missed the turn from the main road, and there was nowhere to turn round, so I gave up. The roads there are fast, not suitable for walking along, so I keep putting off going there. The nearest bus stops are at Caton and Gressingham.

The nearest sizeable settlement I’ve never been to or passed through, that anybody outside Yorkshire may have heard of, from where I live now, is Batley. Am I missing anything?

For example I was going to say Stockton on the Forest, however I then realised this is on the Coastliner route, so I have been through it. It's a linear village, so seeing it from the top of a double decker means I've been there, even if I have never stepped foot there, right?
So maybe Wheldrake or Elvington? I don't recall visiting and I've not done the number 36 bus and they are on such minor road which I am unlikely to have been driven along (I don't own a car but have been on various roads around York in cars driven by others). Perhaps Hessay but that's a tiny village with a population of around 300, but without a lower limit, I guess that counts. But it would be difficult to be certain that I've never been there, though I think it's unlikely.
So it really depends on how small a settlement can be, and what constitutes "been to"!

But if you've been on a train between Huddersfield and Dewsbury, you've arguably travelled through it. Or have you not done that line?

? The Golf Club LC is called Clara Vale and it's all within the ecclesiastical parish of Greenside. (For those who haven't the foggiest, it's a former pit village down a dead-end road.)
Trying to answer WRT Shipley - it will probably be a suburban chunk of South Bradford, perhaps Bierley (south of the ring road, I've been to ASDA!).

Mount Pleasant Rugby League Ground. Great views from there, and, if I remember right, you can see Dewsbury R.L.'s ground in the distance.
For me, it would seem to be the small village of Fifehead Magdalen, which is situated in the middle of nowhere just south of the A30 in Dorset.
There used to be a tradition of "stave dancing" there, in which I gather you toured around the parish wielding a rather long pole, but I haven't missed anything because it died out in the 1920's apparently.

If it comes up on Google Maps (other maps available) and there is something of note there (a building, bus stop, station etc..)So it really depends on how small a settlement can be, and what constitutes "been to"!

If you can recall stopping there, even as brief as a stopping train or going into a Public WC (if any remain). Some places like Towcester, I've just sat in traffic for so long, I was stationary there for enough time to class it as a visit

Going by the most recent post, I'm going to use hamlet/village as my smallest definition of an area I've not been to. In all directions from Hereford, I have to travel a good few miles until I reach somewhere I've not been to. I'll have to check later, but I think my closest is going to be Evesbatch, a little tiny place a short way the other side of Fromes Hill. I've been within a mile of it, and yes it's on the list to do eventually!
There is a possible place closer to Hereford, just off the A438 before Stoke Edith, but I'm not sure if it counts as even a hamlet. I'll have to consult Maps and check where it is.
Other than that I have a number of places to go to in Herefordshire, but they're all further out!

Not really. A few nice curry houses and one or two decent pubs, that's about it. The walk along an old railway through Wilton Park isn't bad, but I wouldn't go out of your way to do it.
Oh, and the Fox's biscuit factory, if you like that sort of thing.
