After ten days of shutdown due to flooding at the Cefn viaduct, the line is reported open today with a very slow speed restriction over the viaduct, journey time extended up to 20 minutes.
The floods were the worst in 60 years on the Dee,some viaduct piers sit in the middle of the river.fears of structural damage resulted in its closure for safety reasons

I cannot see 20 minutes Bob as Cefn viaduct isn't that long and at even 5mph this will only put a few minutes on the journey, the only reason the headway will be 20+ minutes is if Single Line Working is implimented and this will have to be from Wrexham to Gobowen where the cros overs are this in turn would make more than a 20 minute headway I think, if the timetable is normal there will obviously be problems, the only was this can be done is 1 train every 2 hours if there is single line working.

Hello TDK.

20 minutes delay is what National Rail put out.

Bob

There must be more restrictions than just a slack at Cefn, I will see what I can find out and get back to you!. NR still have the trains spinning at Wrexham on their live train time site

The viaduct is reduced to 20mph running. The times on National Rail are not correct - they are still using the bus times as it was anticipated that the line would be closed until 18th.

Yesterday most train services ran to their usual scheduled times along the route.

Good morning Rydon,

Welcome to Rail UK Forums,
I understand via colleagues, the line was reopened with a low speed over "The Cefn", initially only for DMUs, not sure when it will reopen for the Logs from the North or steel from the South, freight was diverted via Crewe.
seems it takes National Rail a time to sort its systems.
Normal times were indeed run yesterday.
I was buying diesel at the Rhostyllen (Wrexham Services) on Monday, a couple of Pats coaches were filling up, had a chat as they had ATW boards up
drivers said they were putting in 500 litres, had 4 coaches on the run, some w ere filling up twice a day and operating 20 hours a day with various drivers running between Wrexham and Shrewsbury stations.

see you

Bob
