Sunday Sept 25th - kinda perfect for my birthday week where I will reach 1000000 (ahem)! ELR are running a "pride" train with drinking, entertainment on and off the train, more drinking (probably) and goodness knows what else. Here's the details, https://www.burypride.co.uk/the-rainbow-train/

The event starts at 5pm at Bolton Street, Bury, with local acoustic acts on the platform performing as everyone arrives.

Train arrives at 5.30pm and will depart at 5.53pm. There will be a Pride party on the train, courtesy of Roch Valley Radio as we travel to Rawtenstall, where we will be greeted by Bloco Ashe Samba Band performing.

The train then departs Rawtenstall continuing the Pride party back to Bolton Street, Bury, where we will be greeted by Wolf, performing all the LGBTQI Classics which will keep the party going.

and everyone welcome onboard! **It does state experience a trip on East Lancashire Railway’s Heritage Steam Engine so it should be, er, steam!

Hope I've captured the cold, grey evening it was...but fun never the less! can only say the ELR is a magnificent experience, they have thought of everything including well stocked cafes, toilets on all platforms at Bury, cosy bar and enthusiastic volunteers!

General veiws of Bury Bolton St Station in the gathering September autumnal gloom. last one shows a group playing "assisted" by four drag quens, who were rather the worse for wear at that stage...yet carried on until way past midnight! Attagirls...

Thank you for the photos, as well as the train going from Bury to Rawtenstall, did it also go over to Heywood? (I like that bit as you hear the steam loco working hard and it climbs over tram lines bridge.) I like the East Lancs Railway too, as you say great staff there.

Think it started form Heywood after it's last trip but didn't pick up pax there. I was at the station for 4.45 and it was waiting there for a 5.30 departure. Only the rear 3 - 4 coaches were used, not sure why the others weren't decoupled but didn't ask!

Will certainly do the rtip next year and maybe a few before then, a real-ale trip in Spring hopefully!

Excellent. (Infact a year or so I was on the ELR and only part of the train was being used, I think the other out of use carriages were for a dining train later on, they were probably setting up for that.)
