Whoever formatted that timetable requires some training on how to sort and select columns by time order.
It seems fairly common to cancel the last Wolverhampton services at the weekend.Pretty poor show last night. The last two Wolverhampton services were cancelled. Luckily the 2031 to Crewe (instead of Preston) was delayed enough so I could catch that to Rugby.
FYI: the idiom "a sight for sore eyes" is traditionally used to describe something you're pleased or relieved to seeThe Scotland route is a sight for sore eyes today:
Hahah - you’re quite right! My family has been using it wrong for decades, that’s very amusingFYI: the idiom "a sight for sore eyes" is traditionally used to describe something you're pleased or relieved to see![]()
Fwiw I've always used it the way you used it, and never in 40-odd years heard anybody else using it in a way that would make me suspect it meant anything else. I guess I almost always only use or hear it on seeing a hungover friend or one who's ill, in which case it seems reasonable to say "you look a mess", or "glad you're not dead"Hahah - you’re quite right! London to Manchester train operator Avanti has begged ministers to relieve it from performance target deadlines, after struggling with driver shortages.
The ailing operator has asked the Department for Transport to greenlight a “force majeure” declaration on its West Coast line, according to The Sunday Times.
This would mean Avanti would not have to hit targets and make it easier to dodge penalties for delayed trains.
I very nearly got stranded in Crewe last weekend heading up to Glasgow. Service I had booked on was cancelled and the following two avantis, which were the last services of the day were showing as cancelled. I was lucky as I checked RTT and rushed back to Crewe station to catch a late running 10 car set up to Glasgow.Pretty poor show last night. The last two Wolverhampton services were cancelled. I was at Euston today (Sunday) and was amazed at how full the LM services to Birmingham & Crewe were. The 1208 to New St (8 vehicles) was jammed packed & the 1243 to Crewe (also 8 vehs) left passengers behind. I don't know if today was a particularly bad day or if this is now the norm given that passengers can't get advance tickets on Avanti (and cannot afford walk up fares).
The 13:55 from Manchester Piccadilly to London Euston is 35 minutes and counting late. Just showing up as ‘delayed’ at the station. Not sure what’s happening.
Fatality at the moment at Nuneaton. The 13:55 from Manchester Piccadilly to London Euston is 35 minutes and counting late. Just showing up as ‘delayed’ at the station. Not sure what’s happening.

1R27 07:55 Piccadilly-Euston did run on Monday 26 September in the end, pretty much on time. Thanks for that!
Will there be a bus for the Carlisle/Glasgow passengers? Thanks for the possible explanation. Seems that the crew member might have had second thoughts as the train is now showing as terminating at Preston ( as it more than often is )
18:30 London Euston to Glasgow Central due 23:10 will be terminated at Preston.
It will no longer call at Lancaster, Oxenholme Lake District, Penrith North Lakes, Carlisle, Lockerbie, Motherwell and Glasgow Central.
This is due to a shortage of train crew.
Yes, I was on it as far as Lichfield, which is why it was a fairly important train for me personally!Makes two of us.
It appears to have left 37 minutes late, got to Rugeley 61 minutes late and returned to Stafford where it seems to be in platform 1 at 16:14.
EDIT I just missed the post from CAF397 so this makes more sense now.
FURTHER EDIT AT 16:23 it's heading back to Colwich, presumably having gone to Stafford in case it needed to divert via Bescot to avoid Nuneaton.

It looks like Avanti have 'restored' Manchester-London via Crewe services by adding in unadvertised Q paths. They then show these as 'additionals' in JourneyCheck - if and when they're able to find the traincrew to run them. There are a number of additional Manchester-London via Crewe services today, as there were last Friday, some doing a return trip before ECS to Longsight. 08:55, 09:55, 11:55 today I think at least.
EDIT 13:55 & 17:55 also
I have a friend visiting from London on Thursday, going back Friday so one of these will be useful, he should have an off-peak single so valid on any train. It looks like Avanti have 'restored' Manchester-London via Crewe services by adding in unadvertised Q paths. They then show these as 'additionals' in JourneyCheck - if and when they're able to find the traincrew to run them.
It's better than not having them at all, but it's completely random which of them run on any given day and, as they're unadvertised, they won't show up on journey planners. So for all practical intents and purposes they're just crowd-busters.
