Well they achieved 1175km before refuelling, travelling the length of Germany and back to Munich.
Imagine getting clearance in the UK for such a run with novel traction.
Alstom has proven the capability of the Coradia iLint train to provide long-distance travel.
On 15 September, the hydrogen-powered train travelled a record 1,175 kilometres without refuelling the hydrogen tank. Throughout the journey, the train only emitted water and operated with very low levels of noise.

Rode an iLint which was running in special service for Innotrans 2022 visitors. From Spandau to Ostbanhof in only 15 minutes nonstop! Normal S Bahn trains take about 3 times as long.

Not sure if it was the actual trainset that set the record that was in service. I should have asked. But they did have a sign indicating the record set.

I'm not so sure about the low levels of noise. There was a loud interior electronic hum, which I asked about. Was told it was the chopper and that they are working to reduce the noise levels.

I took that to mean the noise from outside the train.

isn't this what many people call bionic duckweed and assure it's a crazy idea?
No.

I don't think many people think hydrogen is a crazy idea, but without knowing the speed and number of stops, it is impossible to evaluate the trip for economy, let alone its environmental credentials.

It's a bit like the figures quoted by car manufacturers, except that they have norms.

For the environmental credentials, you'd have to know where the hydrogen is coming from.
