Which classes of train have you cleared?

Looking through my class lists on Trainlogger, it appears I have only completed one class of train - 76s, of which there is only one to see (26020 at the NRM).

Now, 'completing' a class will be different for different people - I record both sightings and haulage, and some people have specific mileage requirements for each train.

I am close to seeing all 185s, 195s and 333s.

So my question to the esteemed members of RailUK Forums, many of whom will have far more spotting experience than myself, is this: which classes of train have you completed, whether it be for spotting, haulage or mileage?

Steam, diesel, multiple units - doesn't matter which.

I'm just interested in what everybody has finished, or is close to finishing.

I've seen all of the 175s at least once, nearly twice all, and just today I cleared the 172/0s.

Edit: forgot to mention I have cleared class 201 (the only one left is the Hastings Thumper).

Or classes you missed by one...
I've still never gotten over that I didn't (knowingly) see all the Thousands; D1066 Western Prefect always eluded me.

141s, 144s, 155s, 185s, 333s.

Not bad considering I don't go out of my way to get the whole classes. Though there's an obvious regional bias to the ones I have managed of course!

Seen or travelled on?
Travelled on. Did the 144s for sight about fifteen years before I had them all for haulage. 022 was the last for both, but ever since I got it it felt like it was stalking me!
Slight asterisk for the 141s mind- some were pre-refurb and some were post.

Which classes of trains have I completed? None - I don't build trains ;) ( HAHAHAHAHA etc)

I have seen ( and travelled on) all members of classes 97,950 and 230.

So you’ve had the vehicles stored/being rebuilt at St. Leonards?

I think this thread needs clarifying: my view would be you can’t say you’ve cleared a fleet if you haven’t had any that are scrapped.

In which case you win  As someone not really into numbers, I can say for certain I’ve cleared the 150/0s!

Aren't the 97s shunters?
On further research I think you mean the 97/3s - modified 37s for Network Rail. Are you a track inspector then?

Ah, I see there are only 6! It appears I've not logged any 150/0s, having not ventured to the Manchester area much.

By strange coincidence that's the only western I never saw, 1018 and 1019 were already on the Swindon scrap line when I got them with only 1050 and 1066 to go at the time. 1050 came to me a few months later but no such luck with 1066.

I did however see all of classes 44,45,46,50,53(easy) 13,31,55,74,83,84,86,87,89,91

And at the time I started spotting in 1970 is saw all the then existing 40,37 and 47 but all three classes had suffered accident victims before that time

I would be astonished if in my lifetime I hadn't cleared all 507s. I've not kept records, though. Suspect I've probably also been on all three of "our" 230s. Quite possibly all the 350s too.

I should start keeping records! :)

Forgot about 322s, there's another I've had rides on all of them. I'd include the 321/9s and 158/9s but going into sub-classes didn't seem to be in the spirit of the thread. Though I included 155s meaning just the seven survivors. Didn't ride any of the ones that were split up into 153s until after they'd been converted.

Back in the days when my railway interest was almost entirely about spotting I cleared the 313s for sight in just 2 visits to Finsbury Park. That was in 1977/78! As my interest developed into other aspects of railways I became less concerned about such "achievements" as clearing classes even while I was still spotting actively so I would have to make quite an effort to confirm exactly which classes I've cleared by now; there will be plenty.

I do know that at one point I had all Scotrail ETH fitted 47s for haulage bar one, 47593 Galloway Princess. Of course that loco is still active but I really don't care any more about being hauled by it.

I think this thread needs clarifying: my view would be you can’t say you’ve cleared a fleet if you haven’t had any that are scrapped.

I wonder how many whose interest goes back to the days of mass loco-haulage realise how many classes of diesels had suffered crash casualties long before TOPS renumbering. Talking of which how many would consider DP2 to be a Class 50?!!

I've managed to do all of the class 450s between living in Reading and spending a lot of time spotting at Vauxhall during breaks at the cricket - also just need 444042 to finish the 444s too.
It's quite hard to finish some of the newer classes as for example the only GWR 80x i haven't seen is 802003 as its been in Eastleigh for ages, but I haven't seen many of the other operators who run 80x, similar for the GWR 387/1s which I've done but still missing quite a few of the Great Northerns, and the 165/1s i've done besides 165115 which was destroyed before i was born
(all just sighting)

Certainly been on the 365 fleet many many times over, including 365526. Must have been on every 317 too at some point.

During my years involved in train construction or shortly thereafter, I can say with certainty that I saw every Class 165, 166, 168, 175, 180, 319, 320, 321, 322, 325, 334, 458, 460 and 390. In train maintenance/ servicing, all of Class 57/3, 87, 323, 82XXX DVT and others. I know that I have commuted on every 220, 221, 323 and 390 and behind every Class 86/1, 86/2 and 87.

As a younger enthusiast I can claim to have 'cleared' for sight Classes 01, 05, 13, 25, 27, 31, 40, 44, 45, 46, 47, 50, 55, 56, 58, all of 81-91 and every HST. As for units, I never bothered to record, unless in a later paid-for capacity!
