Merseyrail Class 777 introduction updates

RMT have, but have ASLEF? They weren't going to talk until the RMT had settled.

I tried to search online for this without success. But I seem to think that ASLEF were poised to agree to the arrangement once RMT had voted for it. I don't think there is a serious dispute any longer.

Is your reliable source from with in ASLEF then? As until Merseytravel and ASLEF have come to an agreement then no one knows any date. Autumn has been stated as a hopefull commencement date and it may well happen too.

Have heard actually from a couple of sources within the focs doing the moves. The Slc moves out of interest Warrington to Kirkdale do and should resume September with the 20s once more. The barriers are already primed at Kings Norton. Yes November is a date but as always could and will get put later. Plus reliability takes effect as well.
If all goes well by Febuary 2023 quite a few could be out and about as well.
Plus 777 could enter into service quite quickly.

The Liverpool City Region has ordered 53 METRO trains from Stadler, seven of which are Independent Powered Electrical Multiple Units (IPEMU). These will be the first IPEMUs to be introduced into passenger service in the UK. These innovative and environmentally friendly trains are based on the original Class 777 METRO vehicles and enable operations to be expanded to non-electrified routes. With IPEMUs, infrastructure work can be avoided and passenger numbers can be increased thanks to an integrated travel experience. IPEMUs can replace diesel-powered trains, helping regional and national authorities to meet CO2 reduction targets. In addition, IPEMUs eliminate the need to change trains, resulting in an improved travel experience and reduced journey times for passengers. Each IPEMU is equipped with a battery-based power storage system. The new battery traction equipment is housed in the underframe. While an IPEMU is driving on the electrified network, the batteries are charged via the third rail or by regenerative braking. The charging time is less than 15 minutes, and one battery is designed for more than 10,000 charge and discharge cycles. The transition from all-electric to IPEMU drive is smooth and not noticeable to passengers during the journey.

I saw 777015 on test at Chester last night. It's the first time I've seen that unit. It's also the first time I've seen testing at Chester for a while.

If you have read the other messages on this page from a few days ago then you realised there is no news until talks talks between ASLEF and Merseytravel have been concluded and an agreement is in place. Until that happens no introduction of the Class 777's sadly.

The Liverpool Echo has a article today where one of their journalists describes a ride on a 777. He stays that they're likely to be used on passenger services in the next couple of months and fully in service in 15 months' time:

I imagine not unless something really goes wrong. I believe Merseyrail’s latest estimate is before the end of the year. And there seems to be alot of running at the moment as well. Yesterday for example 2 units minutes apart on the Southport line. Of course though who knows

Out of interest does anyone know if any guard training has taken place since the RMT agreement. I know ASLEF are still waiting to strike a deal with drivers but have the guards started their training ?

As no agreement with the drivers has been made. I am surprised they are putting out an estimate time frame.
At this point entry into passenger service this year looks unlikely. Best one would expect some token introduction.
