Saw this today at my local station as i got off the train in Northern Land. Is this a sign error or someone not paying attention.

Very odd. The message that I saw at another wayside Northern station earlier in the day was 'correct'. (No photo, sorry.)

The error being the use of HRH not HM? :)

Whilst I agree with your comment I am suspecting that it should have read "Following the passing of Her Royal Highness, Queen Elizabeth. Condolences to the Royal Family."

That, but also look at the spelling of Elizabeth.
