Would anyone be able to provide me with the crew diagrams, for both driver and conductor, for the 5C99 0418 Barrow C.S. to Lancaster (which forms the 2C99 0517 Lancaster to Morecambe)? Cheers in advance.

I doubt that anyone will be willing to provide you with this information for the current timetable period.

However, you could make an FoI request to Northern to receive a copy of the most recent diagrams, for December 2021. I don't think the timetable has materially changed in the area since then, and therefore the diagrams will likely be the same.

If you do so via WhatDoTheyKnow, you will also enable any other member of the public who is suitably interested to take a look.

Fair enough - thank you for the idea.

Why do you need the crew diagrams ?
Purely out of interest - the sign on time must be extremely early and I was wondering how long the shift was.

Signs on at 0348 and off at 0952 6.04 in total.
ECS to Lancaster then 2 x Morecambe's PNB then back to Barrow then takes the stock into the CS.

Ah, fantastic - thank you! At least it's a short job in return for the extremely early start.

I wonder that Northern haven't opened a traincrew depot in Lancaster (or Carnforth, given the stabling facilities); it would cut down on the large number of taxis and ECS movements that Barrow and Wigan crews have, and improve resilience of the Bentham Line (which is currently only signed by Skipton).

In theory a Lancaster depot would sign Barrow and Windermere to Preston or Manchester Airport, and Lancaster to Morecambe, Heysham and Leeds.

They have supplied someone with forthcoming unit diagrams from December so may be forthcoming.

Edit - this has in fact been requested and supplied for the period to May.

To elaborate slightly.
0418 Barrow Carriage Sidings - Lancaster ECS arr 0512
0517 Lancaster - Morecambe via Carnforth (arr Morecambe 0545)
(No mention on Northern printed timetable - that I can see - of this journey going via Carnforth, but it does come up okay on journey planners).
0602 Morecambe - Lancaster arr 0613
0618 Lancaster - Morecambe arr 0628
0700 Morecambe - Lancaster arr 0712
(Foregoing diagrammed for a 156).

0823 Lancaster - Barrow arr 0923
0934 Barrow - Barrow Carriage Sidings ECS arr 0937
(Diagrammed for a 195).

I see that today (Tuesday 13/9/22) the 0517 Lancaster - Morecambe and 0602 return are showing as cancelled (driver shortage), with the ECS from Barrow CS scheduled to operate an hour later than usual.

Yea there was some cancellations / trains removed from the timetable when I used that line yesterday morning. I see there was no early morning Millom turnback today so guess that's all linked to staff shortage this week.
