It is indeed ...on AC power at the mo....should be lively. 755 325 at the London end. Not sure of what is at the country end..
and it is ..0-100mph in under 2.5 mins and before the A14 underbridge despite the 25mph platform exit and 30mph crawl through Ipswich tunnel! Pocket rockets indeed

On electric, 755/3s are the fastest accelerating MUs in the UK. The only train that could contend that up to high speed seems to be the Class 395.

I'll have to test the 345 though

I did once have a controller suggest to me, after I'd ruined the Sheringham line all morning with a failed 153, that if I could take it Crown Point and dump it in the river it would be nice but unfortunately we'd have to settle with just taking it to Crown Point.

Oh you are joking. I’ve used gen very kindly given to me to make a strict plan for getting me fourteen specific 720s for haulage; I can’t have the GEML going crackers up now

Would be a novelty to see two 755s at the terminus today. Hopefully I will.

Looks like services are back to normal. THere is a 0P36 service running north out of Diss - maybe the failed train being hauled back to NCP. Open train times maps show the line as being clear.

No it came back under it's own steam at 5mph I think.

Not to take anything away from good reliability being achieved but I guess it helps when the fleet is much bigger than it needs to be and demic units can be out of service for long periods rather than having to be pressed into service with minor faults.

There is that of course but they are settling down nicely with support for us whenever needed from Stadler I find. To be fair considering the additional fuelling & sometimes up to 3 still being released for software & other testing each day there are not that many sitting about unless you look at the bad old days when we never had anything in reserve in this neck of the woods. Really is a changed world over here.

The Stadlers have really transformed East Anglia services to Ipswich and beyond. I always choose a 745 service when travelling beyond Colchester. The 745's are an improved travelling environment for mainline passengers - easier access onto and through the train, more seats brighter cleaner more accesible. What strikes me is how the regional services - once the poor mans relation - (running Class 155 and 156's previously) are now genuinely on a par with the mainline except for service frequency.
But having travelled recently on the Swiss Treno Gottardo - it strikes me how much better the 745's and 755's could have been - high definition colour information displays, the onboard vending machines for drinks and snacks. Our full size tables are better though!

Well 153s yes lol. I know mate. Nothing compares even marginally with what went before & don’t even get me started on reliability. As somebody who relies on the local services to get to/from work I can more than vouch for what can be achieved with decent investment. So many complimentary comments from passengers everyday.

I miss the 170s still but these new units accelerate incredibly quickly

I concur entirely. Thankfully seeing things like that are nothing more than a distant nightmare these days at Norwich.
