Remember this thread next time someone is claiming that ROSCOs would happily continue to provide stock like the (ex) Avanti Vogagers at peppercorn rents, and that we should play hardball with them
Reality is that the scrap value isn’t trivial, and these probably won’t be the last “non-standard” batch of trains to get cut up well ahead of time
(EMR have enough EMUs for their London services; much as I’d have loved the MML to be wired before now, the CP5 commitments wouldn’t have touched Matlock/ Mansfield, so I can’t blame the electrification cancellation for the lack of future for these five coach EMUs)
