Yesterday I purchased a three-year Senior Railcard via Trainline.com for £47.

Followed all the details and they sent an email to which I responded with
my number but after three attempts, still have yet to receive a response.

I resisted a smart phone for years so may be missing a trick here but don't
think so and have tried Tweeting trainline but still awaiting a response.

Any ideas/help will be warmly welcome.

The subject line of this thread is 'Senior Railcard app' but my understanding is that if you have a railcard bought from Trainline, it can only be displayed in the Trainline app, not the generic Railcard app that other sales channels feed into.

Personally I would steer clear of Trainline for either tickets or railcards.

With some of the incentives they offered, even I couldn't say no. A three-year 16-25 Railcard for £35, yes please!

Nothing wrong with the Trainline for tickets bought for same day travel and where fulfilment is by e-ticket.

Ordinarily, we have a physical Two Together Railcard, but the Digital one via the Trainline is too good an offer to turn down in my opinion, so just purchased through that.

Perhaps I didn't explain my quandry properly...

My sister in law sent me a link re the deal being offered, if one
purchases a three-year senior rail card the price has been reduced to just £47.

Thinking this to be a good deal, i went through the process, paid my money
and was then asked for my mobile number and was informed a link would be
sent from their end to complete the transaction.

However, nothing 'beeped' - or has done since - on my phone. In reference to
the 'Smart' variety, I've only recently upgraded and still trying to come to terms
with its nuances - I can whizz round a Mac blindfold but this is taking some time!

Having given it some time I first contacted Trainline via direct message on Twitter,
and twice since, but nobody has had the decency to get back to me and I've
struggled to find anything concerning a telephone to make direct contact.

Hope this sets things out so just need info as to touch base with them directly.

Cheers in advance.

I’ve recently bought the Two Together Railcard from the Trainline. I’ve looked back through my text messages and definitely didn’t receive one, just an email (as seen) advising that the Railcard was available in the app. I’d already had the app installed for a long time.

Have you provided a working email address to them that can be delivered to your phone?

Edit:- I’ve just re-read your first post, clearly you do have email. Did you not receive something similar to that shown in my attachment?

In theory, installing the trainline app on your smartphone, and then logging into the app / setting up an account on the app - using the SAME email address which you used to buy the railcard, should then allow your railcard to be revealed in the account / railcard tab?

Yes, the OP should try this.

Download the Trainline app from the App Store if it's an iPhone, or from the Google Play Store if it's an Android phone.

Then open the Trainline app and log-in to the Trainline account.

The Trainline's help page for Digital Railcards then shows you how to find your Railcard within the Trainline app.

Have tried that but...says the a/c no. sent via email doesn't exist and
now there is a new email address for me, which I have no knowledge of.

Seems like I've been screwed over/under?

Tried logging in with my regular email a/c but haven't got a scooby as
to what the password is. Basically, I haven't logged out of it for over
20 years.

Why can't these companies do business via phone any more, or even
even emails come to that.... #grrrrr

Are you definitely using the Trainline app?

The Railcard app won't work for you if you've bought the railcard from Trainline - their system is separate.

In the Railcard purchasing process on Trainline.com you should have been asked to create a Trainline account either by using your Apple/Google/Facebook account, or by manually entering your email address and choosing a new password (not necessarily the same as your email account password, and definitely not the same as your email account password if you've forgotten it). It would look similar to one of these screenshots:

Do you remember what you did? Once you've downloaded the Trainline app from Apple Store / Google Play Store as described above, use the same method to sign in to the app, and your railcard will be there waiting for you.

In either case, you should also be able to enter the email address associated with the Trainline account on the "Forgotten Password" page to receive an email with instructions on how to change the password to something you can then remember and use to sign in. (This assumes that you do receive emails sent to the associated email address, but you should be able to if you're seeing the emails from Trainline at all...)

I don't think any email you received would contain an "account number", because Trainline accounts are identified by email address and not by number. The email address to use should be the one that Trainline is sending all the emails to.

now there is a new email address for me, which I have no knowledge of.
Where are you seeing this new email address? If you are receiving emails to it then it must have been set up for you even if you're not aware of it. For example if someone helped you set up your Android phone (or iPhone), then they might have also created a Google email address (or an email address for the Apple ID) to link with the phone, and if you then chose to register for a Trainline account using your Google account (or Apple ID) that would become the email address associated with your Trainline account.

This is probably a red herring, as @Par said above it's likely just generic instructions on how to download the Trainline app to your phone, and your Railcard purchase shouldn't hinge on it. The key to getting your railcard onto your phone is what details you entered (or which Apple/Facebook/Google button you clicked) to register for a new Trainline account.

Not ignoring you guys but really busy at the moment, plus somebody from Trainline has
just responded to my Twitter query.

Will be back later during the w/e or Monday at the latest.

Thanks again.

Now all sorted by no. 1 daughter. Card was on phone all the time but a conflict of passwords
was causing the problem.

Thanks to all who had replied with help.

Is it just specific to Trainline? Railcards bought from EMR can be shown on the Railcard app.

Yes, Trainline have a proprietary system for their digital railcards.

This causes problems with the Family & Friends Railcard if there are two holders, because the railcard can only be displayed when logged in to the account of the purchaser.
