Re presenting a railcard when buying a ticket.
It's a term agreed to when acquiring the railcard. The time to contest that is not when buying a ticket. That’s something I’ve always accepted as a railcard user.
Working at a ticket office, I sometimes get people who have an issue with showing their railcard - often it turns out to be out of date or has someone else's name on it, or they don’t have it with them but intend to travel immediately. I also get people who have bought a discounted ticket at the TVM whilst not having a railcard to present, then coming to the window and swearing blind that somebody in a ticket office sold them the ticket and failed to advise them that they needed to have the railcard with them.
