Article on the BBC about rural bus cuts:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-12349621

In relation to the cuts in Cumbria:
MORE THAN 100 CUMBRIAN RURAL BUS SERVICES FACING CUTS
More than 100 bus services in Cumbria could be affected by plans to cut £346,000 from rural transport subsidies.

Cumbria County Council’s cabinet will consider the plans as part of its draft budget at a meeting in Kendal today (03/02/11). The rural bus cuts are just part of much wider plans to save £38 million in 2010/11. However, if agreed, such reductions to public transport funding could have a significant impact.

In Cumbria, the rural bus subsidy currently funds 109 routes that would not otherwise be viable – providing a lifeline to many living in rural areas.

How old is that stock photo? Very is the answer! Was well before 2004 that 2 line displays went on the 555 ISTR.

Also, rather inappropriate given the 555 is apparently well into the black....

They can't afford to pay for new pictures of rural services to be taken, so they use stock photo's of rural services

22825 and an UID Trident with window boards in today.
21007 and an Oly on 42

Nothing else to report really.

Does anyone know if the Northwest is moving over to the new ticket machines sometime soon. There were rumours going around that some depots had had a new machine in for drivers to look at etc but it's all gone quiet...

The longer it takes to get them, the better. Awful cheap things. They'd probably work better being mounted upside down, with them being Australian..... Heard a few cases from Manchester where a ticket has refused to print, so the driver issues another one, then the machine spits out the full ticket roll, with the driver then sat for a few minutes winding it back into the machine.

Maybe the rareist of workings for a while is that it looks like 33162 has been on the 600. Came into the bus station with 600 on front, left on Staff Shuttle before going straight back to the bus station as per the 93 bus RTC does.

27507 has a dodgy one in the NE, refused to print out twice to people on two separate occasion when been on board. Go North East has updated to the newer ERGs recently. Operators such as Classic Coaches also has them. Think the GPS is better appreciated!

For those who are interesting in general SC movements here's some resent movements from Yorkshire:

16483 N133 AET disposal to Stagecoach Midlands
16484 N134 AET disposal to Stagecoach Midlands
16489 N139 AET disposal to Stagecoach Midlands
16492 N142 AET disposal to Stagecoach Midlands
16494 N144 AET disposal to Stagecoach Midlands

Thought it may be of interest seeing as we have been talking about N reg Olys lately and how they may be on the way out.

I don't know about when/if. The rumours have been around for *ages*.

But I've been using the ERG ticket machines in Scotland and they have their good and bad points, as much as the Wayfarers do. I've been getting cards failing to read, paper jams and things like that, but there are some things they do better!

There's probably not much to choose between them as a driver, if you ask me.

Yeah rumours have been round for a while!

I didn't think they would be that bad and as you say everything has its good and bad points!

I would assume that the 5 N reg Olys will be replacing Leylands, seems logical...

It left Keswick for Portinscale at the 10:11 departure, then worked the 10:35, 554 Keswick - Carlisle.
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
I had a good day in Keswick again today the only negative thing about Keswick that it is not the best place for bus spotters I probaly prefer Workington.
