What trains are normally used on this line (I'm assuming 450s) and do they have USB charging or plug sockets to charge my phone?

It's usually the same 450 unit shuttling back and forth all day. You'll find sockets scattered around the saloon.

Not sure you're going to have time to put that much charge into it on such a short line...

Agreed. Even with fast charging you might get a few percentage points if you're lucky. Which might make all the difference to some people who can't go without their phones connected permanently! I seriously don't understand the need some people have for leaving things like WiFi on while also using mobile data, or leaving NFC on all the time, stuff like that. Such huge drains on battery power!

Wifi, NFC and Bluetooth left on are not huge battery drains at all.

The biggest drain is the screen and mobile network when it’s not connected and is constantly scanning. 5G is quite power hungry as well, although it is getting better.

Another battery drain is fully closing apps by swiping them away. If you leave them open in the background then the phone will put them to sleep. If you close them then the phone has to relaunch them from fresh, using more processing power and therefore more battery.

To me, this is simply because, afterwards, I will be filming all three New Forest Tour bus routes, and all of them are 2 hour long end to end. And filming the entire route can cost a lot of battery... so 2-3% more battery can make a difference imo

It might help, but I would seriously invest in a power bank, fully charged before you leave your place it should sort out any concerns about battery life better than plugging into a 450 for 10 minutes.

You have got me intrigued though about the tour bus routes, I have to say I didn't know such a thing existed. I might have to make some further investigations, and I'm guessing you'll be sharing these videos on YouTube at some point?

Yep, I indeed have a YouTube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCF4MgnTvK_8qhEGOSPFk1hA

And yes investing in a power bank might be something I could consider

I haven't had watched your videos, but condensing the footage down into a time-lapse is an interesting concept. I watch some of Wanderizm's videos (they come up regularly as recommendations and I ended up subscribing) on an as-required basis when I'm missing London, but I also watch them to make some approximate notes on the roads for potential cycling adventures. Their recent Uxbridge-Holborn video was excellent for that, and yes it is on my list of rides to do one day now.

Time-lapse videos I don't think I'd get as much use from, truth be told, but I will hopefully watch some of your videos soon to see what they're like.

If you're talking iPhone, that's a myth. Often it worsens battery life as they have to reload from scratch when you revisit those apps.

Yes if you close them. If you leave them open in the background then they’ll use less power when being bought back to the foreground.
