Hello
Going to Brighton tommorrow from Derby and my timings are a little tight.
Looking at running this week it seems that consistently the 8.32 and those around that time have been late.
Does anyone know why as it seems to have been the case all week
Is the a reason for this

Could you give a bit more detail of which train you are asking about? Is it the 8.32 from Derby or the 8.32 from somewhere else to Brighton?

Seems to have been a mixture of things.

Monday morning there was a fatality
at MHB, also platform 1 at St Pancras was out of use all day which made platforming a nightmare and seemed to prevent recovery. The P1 OOU issue continued on Tuesday. Also various train/equipment failures over the last few days, none of which were helped by the heat.

Today seemed better!

The departure before the 0832 from Derby (to London St. Pancras) is normally the 0805. Does the ticket you've got allow you to switch trains?

It, and most up expresses, are going to struggle to be on time at Derby with a couple of TSRs between Ambergate Jn and Derby at the moment. Today's was 10 late into St Pancras down to those, then getting stuck behind a right time GTR service further south. I don't think it coming from Sheffield to Chesterfield via Barrow Hill helps matters either.

08.32 from Derby this morning (Friday) was three minutes late into St. Pancras; hopefully basfordlad was still OK for his train on to Brighton.

Next trains for Brighton after arrival at St Pancras (at 1010) would have been the 1020 and then the 1030.

The latter train normally gets into Brighton for 1147 and was only a couple of minutes down today.

So, is a ten minute cross station transfer from St. Pancras platform 3 over to platform A possible?

Minimum connection time at St. Pancras is normally meant to be fifteen minutes.

@basfordlad. How did you get on?

I'd have thought it would be achievable, subject to getting through the scrum at the EMR barriers!

*Down* to platform A :). I’ve done it in 5 mins before, admittedly from towards the front of the train...

My record from Thameslink platform B to an EMR train is 4 minutes. I was in the optimum position on the Thameslink train and it was a rather brisk walk uop the three escalators involved.
