Booked an 11-car Pendolino, though q 9-car can substituteDoes anyone happen to know whether it is likely that a pendolino or voyager usually works the 07.27 Warrington to Edinburgh service?
046 is a 9-car.Today only made it as far North as Crewe due to signalling problems in the Frodsham and Warrington Bank Quay areas which caused a fair few cancellations this morning.
Would have been Pendolino 390046. (Is that a 9 or 11 car unit)?
The easiest way to tell from the unit number is:
/0 (3900xx) are 9-car
/1 (3901xx) are 11-car

It is booked such, but as with anything set substitutions can happen.Always been an 11 car when I last used it on 14 June (390135).
Whilst the 0727 ex WBQ could manage with a 9 car the diagram later probably warrants an eleven car.It is booked such, but as with anything set substitutions can happen.
I'm not sure it necessarily warrants an 11-car? Or is it/can it be busier than I think?
Since the 9-car had one First converted to Standard, I don't think the issues with using 9-car on 11-car diagrams is quite as pronounced as it was.
Which explains why an 11-car is generally allocated, I thought it might be that other workings in the diagram required the extra capacity.Whilst the 0727 ex WBQ could manage with a 9 car the diagram later probably warrants an eleven car.
