With the 313s planned to go soon as well, Southern needs more units as a buffer as demand grows once more.
The solution for 313s has already been indicated to be 12 377/5s from Southeastern.

Services have been dropped from turn up and go to half hourly in some cases to let the 455 withdrawal happen.
There are some changes happening in September.

It has, but how many trains is there actually an overcrowding problem on? Is it one specific train on the Tulse Hill corridor, two, ten?

There was a suggestion that there were only 28 455 diagrams at the end and a similar number of spare 377s released.

Just saying that Southern needs more stock because it used to have 455s isn't the answer.

I'm not just saying that. The 377 fleet is stretched to the maximum and there is hardly any buffer at all to cope with an increase in demand. I'm all for having an operationally lean railway - but SN needs additional capacity sooner rather than later.

The Tulse Hill corridor is struggling with 5 cars in the peak - as reported by plenty of people in Twitter.

Being hauled by a 37 so maybe that broke down? Also why is the down better than the up to break down?
It’s much easier bidi through Chelmsford on the down road. The up crossovers would have to use Brick House/Church Lane making it a very long section.

ROG loco managed to limp forward in the end.
